the shop I went to in Palo Alto said I mucked up on my intake install and that is why i have stumble under acceleration, i messed up the MAF meter apparently.

The guy at this shop quoted 329 for an OEM replacement... this and a seatbelt replacement of 30 bucks and labor he said comes to 650 ...

two questions.. .fair pricing?

and also - the second i mentioned "aftermarket" mafs costing a lot less he went off on them.. is this a common attitude for shops to have?

it was rather disconcerting.

thanks for any input

I don't see how you could install a MAF wrong. If this guy gave you an attitude then to hell with him. What year is your bird? I have my stock MAF here and would be glad to swap it out to see if it is the problem. I will be out at Sacramento raceway tomorrow all day if you want to come. Plenty of time and room to work on cars too. I am going to have enough tools with me to pull my blower off so I should be able to help you out with that too. Let me know.

Aaron -

Thanks for the offer, but no go for me i had no way of getting to the shop before it closed with the bird and keys inside today... we used a code reader and it said it was the MAF as well... maybe someday when all my problems are gone (6 months owner 6 times in shop) I'll be out in sac with you all
