Installed the unit on friday and finished the calibration of the unit with my DFI yesterday. I have to say I'm very satisfied with the ease of use and installation of this product. Best of all, it uses and off the shelf OEM VW oxygen sensor you can get for 80 bucks CAN. The kit does come with the sensor.

I installed the T-76 last week it definitely breathes more that the smaller turbo I had before. The motor no longer chokes and drops boost over 5000 rpm. Spool up time is about the same as before. Still need to beef up the fuel system before it will make any serious horsepower.

I installed a set of 2.73 gears about 3 weeks ago to move some of the power away from the low end to the top end. I'm getting substantially better fuel economy now, and it's a lot more comfortable on the highway.

My old turbo is for sale. It's good for about 600hp and is well suited for a V6 or small V8 application. It's in great condition with absolutely no end-play and doesn't burn oil. It's a standard T4 4-bolt housing used in most custom turbo applications. Email me if you're interested.

What happened to the "other" unit..... and how much for the Innovate?

Coming this Saturday? Are you the guy Harry is talking about that eats 'Vettes?

The AEM unit I was looking at uses a more expensive GM sensor. I've seen mixed information about having to change the sensor connector if you do buy an OEM GM part. These sensors incorporate a laser etched calibration resistor into the connector specific to each sensor. AEM sells the sensor for 139US vs 59US for the Innovate sensor. It doesn't take much to kill and O2 sensor when you're doing what I'm doing.

I have also been seeing a lot of complaints about DOA units and calibration problems on their forum. The Innovate appears to be much more reliable, and I am so far impressed by the support, and their eagerness to offer free software and firmware updates. I have called them several times and spoke to one the engineers. They do seem to have their stuff together.

I don't know what vettes you're referring to. :D

Okay, cool, I understand. I'm not worried about the cost of the sensors. I'm going to use the NTK I have sitting here (said to be more accurate). Can you get it any cheaper than if I order it myself???????

No, I don't sell this unit. There is a place in Buffalo just over the NF border that sells them. They will ship by priority post.

I am hearing more and more good things about the LM1, and more and more bad things about the AEM. I think I made the right choice. You won't care about the price of the sensor until you actually need one. They are rated at 100k kms in a normal application, less for high performance. Just like a regular sensor, contamination such as coolant will kill it. I like the idea of buying one from a VW dealer instead waiting a week for one to ship from the US if I do need one. The main unit is a little bulky but I'll be mounting it in the glove box and mounting a remote gauge on the dash. It's hooked to ignition so I don't even have to turn it on or off. I'll be using a Auto Meter A/F meter. The LM1 has a calibrated 0-1v output so the A/F meter will show true A/F instead of the regular blinky blinky light show. It's a great product for the price.

Actually, Wayne, your last paragraph was my second reason for the LM-1. Regardless, i'll just order from Innovate directly. Thanks!

Wayne,

Did you get the fuel system upgrades completed ? I'm very interested in seeing what kind of numbers your car is going to pull with larger turbo and more fuel.

Hi Dave,

I've been too busy driving the car and having fun with it to do any major upgrades. That's what spring and fall is for. :D

I've done some fuel system upgrades in the spring so I have more fuel than I did last year, but not the full system with dual pumps yet. I'm already running more boost, and the boost is not dropping off like it did last year.

I'll be hitting the track and dyno soon.

Wayne,

Be sure to let me know how it does, because I'm following your lead on this turbo stuff.

I've pretty much rounded up all the parts needed to install the 347. If all goes to plan it should be running NA by mid July and go to HP in early August for the turbo kit.
