To test the base timing on my SC, do I use a regular timing light, or do I need the one with advance?

You need the one for DIS ignition. However, the advance is controlled by the EEC, so all you can do is look at it, you can't change it in the traditional way. Might be better off putting the money towards a good scanner, like the AutoXray, which will give you live ignition data.

did you ever get a timing light that works good with your SC? I want to get one as well. I also need it to be compatible for use on my 5.0 mustang.

Yes, I forget the brand, as I haven't needed to use it much. They are designed for any DIS ignition system & has an adjuster on the back of the gun.

I never bought one. I'm assuming the car is adjusting the timing ok. I'm still debating which direction I want to throw money at my car from!

Any timing light will work, although I prefer a dialback.

hmmm...how come some say to get one that is designed for DIS? What is different about ones that are designed for it? I want to be able to use it on both of my cars. What is a good price? Thanks.
