View Full Version : Suspension Questions

Hey everyone,
Just planning the last bits of my suspension and had a couple of questions I was hoping to get answers for:
1) Has anyone just replaced their rear suspension knuckle bushings with the polyurethane kit? In other words, the knuckle bushings and nothing else (like the springs or shocks) at the same time. If so, how much stiffer did it make the ride? My bushings are fine, but I was just wondering if I should do them since I have things apart.
2) Does anyone one know of a shop around the Dixie & Bloor area of Mississauga that will do a great job of pressing out the old rear wheel hub and bearings and then installing the new ones? I'm thinking of doing this on a Saturday morning, while I wait, kind of thing.
Cheers,
Jim.

....either no one knows the answers or I'm being ignored. :(
Ok...does anyone know the Moog/TRW part numbers of the rear knuckle bushings?
Thanks,
Jim.

Jim,
Now, don't be like that. ...I gave you my opinions over the phone last week. :D
Are you really dead-set against using the poly rear bushing kit?
Cheers,
Sean

I changed over to the poly bushings in my car when i did rear brakes and a wheel bearing.I cant tell if the car felt tighter or not since she was rather bad with the rear bearing pooched at the time.I would not be afraid to use the poly bushings!Sorry i was working afternoons so i just saw the post!

Can I interest you in a poly front end bushing set? :)
The bushings where the strut rod meets the lower control arm tend rust out. Give them a good look since you'll have it apart.

Sean,
It's just that I get mixed responses from whomever I talk to about the poly bushings. Part of the decision making I'm trying is to compare the poly's to an aftermarket replacement (like MOOG), in terms of cost and ride difference.
So far, all I have for sure is the upper knuckle to control arm bushing, MOOG part # K8588, at a whopping cost of $52.00 each! The rears remain a mystery....CTC lists a rear bushing (front & rear arm)....but it doesn't say if they are between the knuckle and arm, or between the arm and frame. Each are under $20, so I'm guessing they might be the ones between the knuckle and arm....which is what I'd be looking for. What a PITA!
Jim.
Edited:
Anyone familiar with a shop in Mississauga called "Crown Steering & Brake"? I gave them a call, cause they are nice and close to my place, and they quoted me $74 to replace (press out then in) my rear wheel bearings, if I bring them the parts.
