Well i got an extra set of manifolds off ebay really cheap :D Im going to port the collector and clean them up. But i was thinking, maybe i should header wrap the manifolds. Id really like to bring down the underhood temps. Is there anything i need to watch out for? Any negatives about header wrap? Which brand of header wrap should i get?
thanks

No, do not put header wrap on your manifolds. It is not good for cars with mufflers as the extreme heat will deteriorate them. I read a great article about this subject a couple of months ago and I will try to find it and post it here. Pure drag cars that run open headers benefit from header wrap.

you pooped on my parade :(
i read that also , that the heat would prematurely weaken mufflers. but i didnt want to believe it. :( im just trying to think of ways to kep under the hood temps down.

I ran header wrap on my ported stock manifolds for 2 years, running 330.5 rwhp and 402.8 rwtq.. No problems at all.
I upgraded to the jet hot coated mid length headers and they put out more heat than the wrapped headers did.

Here's the link. Everybody should read this.

That link is not very informative..ESPECIALLY BEING THEY ARE RECCOMENDING COATING COMPANIES.....
On a mild steel header you may eventually get metal fatique that weakens the header and leads to a crack or blow through..You are talking thick cast iron manifolds...Not going to happen.
Keeping heat in is good..As far as muffler breakdiown....Maybe in an rx7
Coatings do not keep in heat nearly as effectively as coatings..
Go for the wrap
