Started her up today, HOLY EXHAUST LEAK!!!!!!!! hahaha damn shes loud and putters. I can really let her run too long due to the exhaust leak, she will only run for about 30 seconds then die out, I can hold the throttle opena nd she will stay running though. I am gonna try and fix the leak tomorrow. The alternator from the 94+ stangs does not actually fit well at all, I had to grind a bit of the PS/Alt bracket to allow it to fit better but the case still hits the bracket right near the tensioner, so I left the top bolt undone since it doesn't actually line up due to the case hitting the bracket. Its tight and the belt holds it in place but I will make a custom plate that bolts to the stock hole and then bolts tot he alternator hole, its only gotta be about 1 1/2 inches long, its that close. I don't feel like grinding the PS/Alt bracket any more.

Just grind the bracket..Thats what I always do..The holes willline up

I may eventually grind it, but I don't really wanna have to re-powdercoat that bracket again, so may be later I will. It doesn't have to be grinded much though which is nice.

I don't understand how an exhaust leak causes the engine to die out. Are you sure you don't a have a vacuum leak?

nope, no vacuum leak, but I think I figured it out. When I installed my AFPR I was plugging the side port on it that can be used for a FP gauge. Well there was some dirt int here so I decided to spray out the dirt with my air compressor nozzle. OOPS, I had a bad feeling after I did it and regret doing it, I have a feeling I may have put a small hole int he diaphram of the FPR, When I turn the key forward the system pressurizes but quickly loses all pressure so its leaking, I know its not hte injectors they are new, so I must have smessed up my nice new AFPR. OH WELL, I'll throw the stock one back on and see if that helps. This would defiantely explain the rough idle if it was having a hard time holding pressure, also explains why my FP gauge needle was fluttering so bad. DOH!

It's not just loosing pressure, but that fuel is going somewhere. Usually back into the intake where your vac source is.

how is that? You mean its getting sucked back up through the vacuum line? I removed the vac line and it still loses pressure, and since the injectors are not open at all, I assume its just returning to the tank through the return line, it flows right through the FPR to the return line correct?

Yes the fuel will get sucked through the vacume line

Just because your injectors are new and no power is going to them does not mean they can't flow fuel. I had a failure where the injector mechanically stuck open on my number 5 cylinder after 50 miles of use on a brand new injector...Once I pulled the plugs (and disconnected the coil pack) it was obvious what cylinder it was when I turned the engine over. I was told it was a 1 in a million failure... Lucky me I would rather have won the lotto.
Good luck

Ahh I see, interesting, well I'll pull the FPR tomorrow and see whats up. Thanks guys.
BTW, when I pulled the vacuum line off the AFPR no fuel came out of it when I tried to presurize it again. Hopefully thats a good sign, I dunno.

Could be a stuck injector...See what the plugs look lik yet?

Right, The plug being washed down (clean as new) by the excessive fuel led me to the cylinder that had the stuck injector and turning the engine over and seeing the fuel pumped out confirmed it....

I didn't think it could happen either till i seen the gas drip from my FPR vac line!
