I got a speeding ticket last Fridaynight night. I was trying to catch up with some friends on the highway when I got pulled over by a Sheriff. He got me going 110 in a 65 . The ticket is going to be $285 :( . That sucks.

Whoa! That stinks!.....@least you got pulled over going fast! I had a ticket about 2-1/2 years ago going 80 in a 65 mph, in my red SC

You will be better off in court with a good lawyer, especially with that ticket. I am not aware how license records work in your state, but at the very least your punishment can very likely be reduced.

There is significant information available about these situations via the Internet, try searching Google. I have links, but they are on my personal computer :(

That seems pretty cheap for going that fast. It still sucks but I had to pay $150 for 56 in a 35 and $245 for 76 in a 55, the last one was a construction zone.

Just recently, i got popped for 68 in a 20, this was in pearl also. It was in an industrial area, I wouldn't drive like that on normal sidestreets. He wrote it up for 59 in a 20, so I woulnd't get arrested, car impounded, etc. In court, got traffic school, and a $109 fine. I was stunned, I figured at least $150-200 and a year of supervision. To top it all, I had the expired and invalid plates from my xr7 on the car, no insurance cards with me, no proof of ownership, window tints, no front plate, I had the car pulled over and stopped before he even flipped his lights on and came after me. It took a lot of begging for that 59 in a 20. According to him, I should have been arrested, car impounded, and automatic 6 mos. suspension for the rate of speed for reckless endangerment. I seem to be thinking twice about puting the pedal to the floor lately, and I put the fuzzbuster in my daily driver too. Shame on me for not having it in pearl where it belonged.

All I have to do is pay the ticket. No arrest or impound. Just wrote me a ticket and I was on my way. When I went up to the court house, the lady just just told me the fine amount and that was it.

have you heard about the fordbastards club for Texas?? Its a yahoo club, and its for discontinued and forgotten fords, like the Taurus SHO, Thunderbirds, and Probes. I think the club does 3 "fun-runs" a year, but during the last fall run there were about 7 of us that got pulled over. 2 got tickets for 97? in a 65, and the rest of us were given 92 in a 65. Somebody went through the trouble to find something that you can do to pay off the ticket, but it doesn't go on your record. If you get on the Fordbastards club, and post a question about it on there, i'm sure someone can dig it up and let you know about it. If I remember right, Don (blue92) was the one that mentioned it to me. he also posts here, if you look around in the Gulf Coast chapter.

Yup Texas is great. No points or supervision, no taking your license until you pay the ticket. Just be a man and pay the ticket. Of course there isn't any defensive driving for anything over 25mph. Hell if you have a warrant in another county you don't even have to worry about going to jail unless it's DPS.

Official Texas Court Traffic "Lawyer" :D

No points and BS in MS either, just pay it and go about your business. Last one I got, city PD, you didn't even have a court date unless you requested one.
Look on the bright side: he could have arrested you for wreckless driving as well as taken your license, just a speeding ticket is a lot better. I'd pay it and move on. It's cool when you get a cop that doesn't take it too seriously. You pay to play, it's not like you didn't do it. ;)
