Americans will not get the message. Americans have proven once again that we are absolutely clueless and have learned absolutely nothing from history. We have no business whatsoever in that county. When those people have had enough of the BS that they live under they will change it. In the mean time there is nothing we can do for them. The sooner we get out the better. And no, I am not a liberal "pansy". Nuke 'em for all I care. They don't want our help, they don't share our value systems, and the sure don't warrent our lives.
Oh, but that's right. I forgot that little thing about us wanting their oil for our monstrous SUV's and 300hp station wagons. The price of our insatiable appetites for luxury and glutony just went up a notch. God bless America.

Our we all that igornant to get caught up with what the media says? They only report what will get a rise out of people. Take sports for example, does ESPN ever report about the thousands of hours pro athletes spend in charities and helping communities? No, but you know every step Koby, OJ, and Jason Williams takes.
The war--- we our in it for the wrong reason? People are getting killed? We should pull out.
The last I checked we had a little over 700 soldiers that got killed in almost a year defending the freedom of humans.
Lets look at the USA. I dont have last years totals but this is from recent years.
In 1999 there were 755 murders in Chicago alone?
In the first six months of 2000, New York City had the highest murder rate in the country, with 344 killings. Chicago had 264, Los Angeles had 247 and Detroit had 205. That is 6 months
So what good our we doing in this country? Should we give up and get rid of the police force? These people in our country will never learn! So why dont we just give up!!
I feel absolutly terrible when I hear people getting killed in the war. I feel just as bad when I watch the Philadelphia news and hear about a mother of 5 getting shot and killed in a driveby last night.
Reality-- There are bad guys out there, we know who they are and we must take care of them. If we dont who will? NO one will.

People keep saying we have no business in Iraq. These were not just Iraq citizens that cut his head off. They were al Qaeda, the same group that bombed us with our own planes. Al Qaeda used a non military American to do this to because they knew it would get the most reaction & coverage by the media. The more the media kills support for our troops & our President the more fired up al Qaeda gets because they think they are winning. Al Qaeda is several countries over there. This a war on terrorism, Saddam is a terrorist (or was) he killed his own people & funded al Qaeda's efforts. We are not there for the oil we get most of our oil from Suadi & North America. Yes we are a society that is dependant on oil so we have an interest in that region. Would you like to see European countries controlling that oil??? Would you rather loose a few hundred Americans fighting al Qaeda or several thousand when they attack us again on our own soil???? Have you ever heard of being PROACTIVE????? They have attacked us before & they will again unless we stop them first.

that is why i posed it as a question........no one will or can know how many or the effects (if any) until after the fact.....time will tell, and it probably won't get any media attention 5 or 10 years from now if there are any.

People keep saying we have no business in Iraq.
Really, we did not, or at least the Bush administration has yet to provide us with any real evidence that Saddams government had connections to Al Qaeda or were involved in the plot, and/or execution of 9/11.
IMO we should have kept all or our attention on Afghanistan until we finished the job there.
Reality-- There are bad guys out there, we know who they are and we must take care of them. If we dont who will? NO one will.
I agree wholeheartedly.

Although I am at work, and dont have the time to dig up the exact numbers, many of our gulf war veterans are suffering from it, as well as their kids, as it is now believed that the radiation from used Uranium rounds is the cause for the infamous "gulf war syndrome".

1.) Loss of American life sux.
2.) We're not there for Iraqi oil. The FRENCH & GERMANS didn't want us to be there because THEY wanted the oil/money. Like those contractors they'd negotiated with So-dam-insane.
3.) Let's put some of this in perspective. In WWII, the world lost over 58 million people... 58,000,000. Fifty......eight.... MILLION . 40 million of those being civilian. Imagine if that happened today. ABC and NBC would go broke trying to replace all their stupid journalists who believe war = news and got their heads shot off. Geezzz... a few military people used poor judgement and tortured a few prisoners. You think with 18,000,000 dead military people in WWII torture didn't kill 1,000,000s of them? And don't say "But we should know better". BS... everyone on this planet is a human being and has certain basic instincts. WWII wasn't all that long ago and humans are generally not ones to change inbred instincts in 60 years. Let's just sit back and wait until some country in the middle east can build power like the Axis powers did in WWII. That's a much better solution. Leave them be.... it'll never affect us... why sacrifice our children in the military. Welll... I can think of 590,000 Americans who would WANT us to be there. They're the 295,000 that died fighting for us to be here and the 295,000 widows/widowers that were left behind.
Oh well.. I'm starting to ramble... I just wish the media whould keep their damn noses out of where they don't belong. I don't want to know, don't care to know and don't think they should be televising half of what they do. But that's just me.

OMG!!I just saw the video of that poor man getting his head hacked off.Very disturbing,to say the least. The worst part is that he was there trying to HELP Iraqi people and was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. These barbarians are the reason American soldiers are over there trying to give this country back to the Iraqi people and get rid of this type of tyranny.People say "thats what happens when you try to get involved in their business and to just leave the country".The problem with that is they have and will do that to thier own people, not just innocent Americans that are there trying to help.To do something like that to someone for retaliation from the prison torturing is just plain wrong.I know what the soldiers did was wrong, that goes without saying, but I dont recall any video of them chopping heads off. They are also watching prisoners that were soldiers or terrorists, not innocent bystanders.Whatever the reasons the President did or did not have for going in there, people like that(AL-Queda or terrorists in general)dont deserve to live after carrying out actions such as that. The US will see out this mission they have over there, for the people of Iraq and the world in general, because we dont need that behavior in this or any other country.Murderers like that need and will be dealt with.My heart goes out to Nick Berg's family as a result of this tragic event-lets hope there are no more like it-but unfortunately I think there will be until men like that are brought to justice.

We have no moral authority to do anything. We support kings and dictators as long as they are friendly to us or sell us the things we want. We don't care how they treat their own people. In Iran we supported the Shaw (king of Iran) and even reinstated him from an ousting. He became so paranoid of enemies that he jailed thousands, and made Iran a secular police state. The only way to maintain solidarity for his overthrow was through religious writings and prayer. So when the fundamentalist Muslims threw him out, who did they hate? They hated Americans for keeping him in power and making their lives miserable. The funny thing is that today most Iranians listen to western music and watch satellite TV. They do most of this behind closed doors as it’s illegal, but they envy our way of life. Unfortunately, the hard liner religious leaders are afraid to lose control and don't allow much reform. The thing is that 70% of the population is under 30. So in time they will take control of their country. We just need to stay out of their affairs.
We learned absolutely nothing from our experience in Iran, and have repeated our mistake again in Iraq. In Iraq we helped create Saddam Hussein. Afraid that Iraq would become less secular and more Islamic fundamentalist or dare I say communist, we helped him militarily to fight a war with Iran, and to stay in power. We made that monster and now we have removed him. Only time will tell if the Iraq people will be better off?
One of the reasons that the Iraq Shiites don't like us is that they are in the majority, but we wont let take control. We are going to force the Kurds, Sunni, and Shiites to share power. We aren't going to let them have full democracy because of ethnic and religious differences. Also many Shiites were killed trying to up rise in the South after the first desert war. We had no fly zones, but allowed Saddam to use helicopters to massacre thousands of his opposition in the South and to quell the Kurds in the North.
We are an empire it's just that we wont admit to it. We rule like every empire before. We use the doctrine of stability by instability. We try and keep people fighting amongst themselves instead of turning on us. Sept 11th was one of the times when that may have changed. And the prison abuse scandal is even more fuel for the flame. It's the best recruiting campaign that al-Qaida could have ever dreamed up.
I wish we were really for democracy in the world instead of lip service.
