im looking to buy a new power steering pump, i see a few different options for them, i see with and without variable assistant, with and without reservior... and electronic variable assistant... it is the electronic variable one right? i havent seen any sites with this electronic thing, just the variable assist, can someone direct me to a site or store where i can buy one, hopefully cheap? thanks so much!!

Ordinarily you get just the pump and re-use your housing and Evo valve. About $60 at most parts houses.

oh i didnt know that, is it easy to change over the EVO valve? i think i may have an aftermarket pump that was put in before i owned the car, is it possible it doesnt have the evo valve? or would the power steering not work without it? this might save me a lot of money i was about shell out for the reservior and evo i thought i needed it, thanks.

The EVO valve is not part of the pump. It has the electrical connection on it. If it has the plug then it is there and most likely working. You can put an EVO valve on any tbird LX or SC.

Be very careful removeing that thing...I bent mine but fortunatley found one in a bone yard...you can't get an aftermarket pump with one on it...you would have to buy the whole pump assy from ford...major bucks

After 2 local parts house rebuilts that last less than 500 miles (500 seconds on the 2nd one) before squealing, I bought a Ford Reman. I think the 'local' ones were $90 and the Ford one was $115. Don't recall if it had the valve already on it or not. I don't think it did, but has been quiet as can be ever since.

Ford parts in PA must be cheaper..They wanted over $200 from the local dealer here of course thats with the valve. My aftermarket PSP has about 10,000 mi on it and still going strong at a cost of $76.95..as well as the bone yard valve at a cost of $15.00

so basically i shoul djust get one and i can transfer over this evo? like i said, i think this is an aftermarket pump so it might not have the evo,, but if the sc needs the evo to work, then it should have it i am guessing.... all auto places around me have the cardone (?) ones for like half the price of the motorcraft, shoul di be fine with one of these cardones??
thanks for all replies-
