T-stat replacement ?-fluid drain level-?

How much fluid do I need to drain to replace the t-stat? I have flushed the system before so I dont want to drain it all again if I dont have to.

With the position up high as it is, I'd think 1 gallon would do it.

I ended up draining a gallon, and it worked well.
