I'm new to Superchargers so bare with me.
I did the search and realize some info,
but Iam confused as to set up.What's with
the hose I've seen sticking thru the hood?
I'm guessing the whole setup is a larger
more powerful version of our stock set up.
Also are we talking major engine rebuild and
stiffning up? My engine has only 77,000 mi.
What about drive train?

I trust my fellow sc'ers will correct my mistakes but the blowers you see sticking out of the hood of hot rod cars are roots type blowers just really big ones. Although the cases are different they function in similiar. To fabricate a system that would fit on an SC seems like an aweful lot of money and time to build. I would take an honest look at my[your] pocket book and your goals. Alot of times its easy to get sucked into pipe dreams about power. "Maximize the power in the rpm band that car will operate in the most--john lingenfelter" is the best approach. If you are looking for power i can suggest:

Better flowing heads
Blower porting / Plenum
Performance profile cam
Full exhaust upgrade
Double Intercooler or Front mount
75mm+ Throttle body
Cold Air Intake

Drivetrain:

3.73 gears(auto) or 3.55

This was orginally on non tech forum
where people have been talking about the whipple.
I saw a 'bird pictured with what looks to be a
large black radiator type house sticking thru
the hood. What's the deal with that?

it's the superchargers outlet charge pipe. its not a rubber hose. its the pipe leading to the intercooler.
