I bought my set of SC rims off ebay so I really don't know why there is striping on them. I have tried to get it off but only to realize that there are two layers! There is Black on top of Blue. The black comes off easily but the blue on the other hand.....not. It comes off in sections and the glue is being left behind and it won't come off. I have tried Goo Gone and Paint Thinner without any luck. Anyone have any ideas on how to get this crap off my rims? Here are two pictures of the rim that I attempted to take it off.

Should I try gasoline, brake cleaner, or carborator cleaner??

aw man.. thats gross. who would do that to an SC? thats almost as bad at having whitewalls. I'd try gas, that always works for me.

Are you sure it's paint?
Could it be vynil?
Try using a heat gun or blow dryer on high. Might soften it up.

If it is a vinyl pinstrip, Eastwood (and probably others) make a wheel called a Vinyl Eraser to remove the vinyl and glue and not harm the paint:

I got the stuff off. I believe it was vinyl. It was a real pain to get off. I just had to slowly peel the blue off and then scrub real hard with carborator cleaner to get the glue off. I just bought some mothers mag and aluminum polish today and cleaned them up. All I can say is WOW! I will post a picture as soon as possible. Thanks for all the help guys. Oh yea, its not really an SC.....
