I've replaced everything pertaining to the E-Fan , and it still does not come on ! How do I wire it direct with a switch on the dash ? I've tested the fan and it works , both speeds , is it possible that the fan is the wrong one and has different amperage to run it . Is it possible that Pep Boys sold me the wrong fan ? I'm truly frustated......Thanks

I didn't know PepBoys sold that fan. It's a Siemens 2 speed also used on some Escorts. I guess if the fan motor fits the shroud and the connectors match it's probably ok. I would say either your temperature sensor is not working correctly or their is a problem with the IRCM relay that signals the fans. To get you out of trouble while you investigate all the other possibilities - unbolt the IRCM relay box from behind the passenger headlight/in front of your air filter. If you have the stock filter box, you'll probably need to remove it. You don't have to pull the relay apart, just find wire #14 and cut it. That brings the low speed fan on all the time - should be enough to keep you cool for the time being. Better still splice that #14 wire on to #17 (I know that is green) and that will de-energize the low speed motor windings when the high kicks in (maybe not at the moment for you), but it's a safety feature not to overload the motor.

The temp. sensor is new , and so is the IRCM . In regards to the #14 and #17 wire thing , that did not work . The fan works as tested straight to the battery . Im going to find a hot wire in the ignition , wire it to the fan with a switch on he dash , and run it whenever I want . The fan will not turn on no matter what I've tried . Could there be a fusible link somewhere under the battery holder that I could not see unless I take the tray out ? I think I'm going to look for a low profile mechanical fan and bolt it to the pulley , and screw the electric .

Check the fusible links from the alternator to the IRCM. It's common for them to go bad.

Problem solved . After months and money I have replaced nearly all of the electrical devices that are pertaining to the E-Fan . After all that I've gone through , it turns out to be a wire that was broken inside of the insulation . The culprit was located near the battery , a rectangular plug that has a huge yellow wire on the bottom and a much smaller black wire from the top . Obviously connected to the fan at some point . As I was looking for a fusible link , i noticed that the insulation for this wire felt hollow . Sure enough it was , the wire was broken inside . Re-attached the ends and "voila" fan heaven .........Thanks for all of your help .
