View Full Version : What's the crosscar width of the IRS?

Hi,I've been surfing the TCCOA & SCCoA websites and have a question. Do you know the over all width of the IRS setup from brake rotor to brake rotor (mounting faces for rims)? A friend wants to adapt the IRS into his 1940 Ford street rod, so I'm trying to find the width specs for him. Thanks for any info you can provide!

You might try the Kit Cobra Groups as the rear suspension is popular for use in the Cobra kits. It's fairly close to the width of the mustangs with solid axles.

Here is one site that might help if no one here knows.

I don't have rotors on the one sitting in the garage and no one to help me get exact measurements (call it +/- 0.25") but it looks like 62" from hub to hub outside. Dust shield to dust shield is 59". The front mounting bolts are 41" left to right and the rear 35" left to right. The mounts are 26" apart front to rear.

I don't know the width of the SC IRS,But the Linclon Mach VIII & SC have the same width IRS rearend. The Mach VIII has a aluminum center and lower aluminum control arms. The mustang IRS rearend has 1.3" shorter halfshafts on
each axle.
