I am working on the website logo's even though i would prefer the site with a white background people say they prefer the black.
Lets do a poll, who wants white and who wants black, i can make them either way, i will work on some white logos later when i finish doing the work i have to get done today.
Back n black bird
04-06-2002, 08:10 PM
i like the black
90LXdoughboy
04-06-2002, 08:12 PM
we could make a more detailed one for he site, and use the same concept but simplified for the card.
for the card, it has to have a white background.

jeremy, that works... :)
brad, i asked spinner to get his creative juices going... he's going to work on it later tonight... so looks like im in debt to him now.. meh.

I like having the black background, like it is now now, its fine with me.
I just want a white background for the business cards though.

Again the question is, SHould the websites background remain black or switch over to a clean white?
i like the white/red theme in the first one.. very canadian :)

OKay, if there's gonna be a whole new site other then just relabeling `scconw.com', no `flash' crap.. Or least have an option so you don't have to deal with it.. I mean it can be cool, but i still prefer with out :)
That's my 2 bits, and that's that :)

i like the idea of some flash, but with the option to skip it if not wanting to view

Mere feedback contribution, to wherever this all
settles out at, in point form, for sake of time (!) :
-Like the 2nd version: Has much cool commercial
art theory, etc. going for it !
-Our problem will be, that some on our site have not
studied business, so just getting mere, uninformed
opinion is not necessarily the way to go, nor
needed, so maybe (?) Brad:
You as Pres have already indirectly formed a
committee on this. Once your brainstorming is
done, THEN get our input IF you are torn between
diff versions... That would be more of a structured
approach sufficient to attain our common goals!
-Lastly, the web DOES NOT necessarily have to
be the same on business cards: Due to factors
like our cultural conditioning, language constraints, conventional business practises, existential
experience, for starters... (!), we are, in a sense,
stuck in a time warp in normal psychology,
IN ASSUMING, it has to be the same: Who said?
-Also, hey, Brad, I personally HATE our communist
red for Canadian junk!!!! The 2nd version has
the "concept" of the last colours as used by Ford:
the 35th genre...lol! (Blue/purple/ whatever!)
(Please note use of "lol" in its intended meaning!!!)
-And that "light" has HUGE symbolic meaning across
multiple academic disciplines in its diverse
application: Great genius in that Jeremy!
(Key grounded concepts in all life issues, revolve
around LIGHT, earth, wind, and fire !)

jeremy, i like the white/light one in that last post, it puts the message across but is not too harsh, we could use that one on the business cards actually

I dont know if my opinion counts as I am not yet even offically a member of the club but i did study comercial design.
I wish i had time to do up some designs if i come across some time i might draw up a few if there isnt too huge a rush to pick one.
And no offence but I really dont like choice of font. Seems too toyish (for lack of a better word)...

I like the one with the glare.
Kick Ass Kolenc
04-07-2002, 03:44 PM
yeah that glare shiznit is kinda snazzy....cept it doesn't all appear to be centred............the sccowc and the writing below it...comes out too far on the left...or else the sccowc isn't centered.

Shows how much discernment you've got, Scott,
lol !!(!) : It's NOT supposed to be centered!!!!!

In composition theory when u study photography,
centering in ONLY ONE of many structural choices
for pictorial content:
Centering SUCKS because the image is STAGNANT
and any pro will ONLY use it if it has a DELIBERATE
purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!
We don't want to be PERCEIVED as, nor are we,
a stagnant bunch, or are we?????!!!!! Peace, virgil

Good man, Scott!
Hey, what Jeremy "in effect" CREATED is an
off-center light "motif" that produces MOTION
within the logo iteself BECAUSE he put the light
OFF center ! That's why to me it's so great!
I've studied photog under a guy that's in Who's Who
as a Pro photog, and that much I do remember
and apply to my photography etc......
So, therefore I highly recommend it!
Lastly, it connotes life, as in the sun giving us
light, and the list goes on as to its further symbolic
meaning, message, and purpose!

How about we don't pick apart each others Interpretations of the Logo designs... see the Whole BS thing about art is its supposed to be how you see it, not how someone else does... So this "Dicernment" stuff... It doesn't Fly... It doesn't matter anyways... To each his own... That's why art is a joke.

Hey, Tony, if u can't follow our level of communicatgion,
then the least gentlemanly thing to do, is stay off
the topic and the board ! Thanks !
Meantime, Scott and I and those others that do
benefit by our exchanges, will continue to benefit
by them: Peace, if u can find it !!!

Yes Virgil, I can't Understand your Level of communicatgion
You always assume you are the only one who has taken graphic Design.... The beef here is that you went right after scott... when you could have proved your point by just stating it...
Pablo94SC
04-11-2002, 11:40 PM
Not to be overly critical Virgil, but Tony makes a decent point. Art is a VERY subjective form of communication that is open to every possible interpretation known to man. Therefore in Tony's opinion art, or more likely the "art community", is a joke. The expert's in the field are no better qualified to tell anyone how to interpret a work than anybody on the street. And only the artist can tell you what he or she meant. This holds true in all forms of art.
Take for example the enigma surrounding the Mona Lisa. Is she smiling? Does she have gas? Is she hiding a secret? I don't really care.. I saw it live and face to face in the Louvre (sp) and wasn't too impressed.
My opinion on that one piece of art could have me condemned for life in some circles. However, an open minded individual will appreciate and respect my opinion. In case you wondered I prefer the works of Raphael and Vermeer. They draw my attention, while Da Vinci does not.
As I said art is subjective. If you choose to disagree then that is fine. But when someone voices his or her opinion on a subject, especially in a public forum, please don't tell them to leave. If you'd rather not hear another's opnions, then you should continue the rest of your discussion in private.
Paul
And, hey, Brad, I personally HATE our communist
red for Canadian junk!!!!
well, I wasnt aware that all things red were communist... so I guess I just drank a communist Coke, and I stopped for a Communist stop sign, and Miles must drive a communist car, because its red after all.
in this little part of the world, the colour red is displayed on our Canadian flag with pride and respect. Seeing as how we are a Canadian club I see no reason why we can't include it in our logo!
sorry my reply was so delayed :(
we still need more logos to choose from too!!!
does anyone else have a contribution??????

i won't interupt your guys' beakin at each other, but i still stand byt he first point i made of
S C C O W C
not being in line with
Super Coupe Club of Western Canada
Either the second (bottom part (Super Coupe....Canada)) needs to be moved rigth a bit or the SCCOWC needs to go left a bit.
I think it was just a random mistake in my opinion, but if thats how it's actually meant to be then umm well change it.

It all depends really what kind of layour and color scheme you are going to have for the site. Here is one I made that will go with a dark color scheme like the current one. Its similiar to the old one I made

this one is a bit more classy

Jeremy, just as feedback to u for what it's worth:
At this year's car show, the "new" image bird is
a plain jane bird...lol!
So, our over-fixation in imitating what "we"
inherited, does not necessarily say it all...????
Nor do we need to be trapped or curtailed by it?!
5thWaveSC
04-13-2002, 01:55 AM
Hey, Paul, thanks for sharing, but there was no
intention to challenge nor offset anyone on this
stuff nor anything else: Tony tended to attack me
and my communication. That's all I was responding
to....
The whole post was a sharing of individual opinion,
informed or not, educated or not, and let Brad
make the final selection, decision or whatever,
but he's the leader unless someone else volunteers
to run....that much is firm! (I am not interested,
so please do not read any meaning into that!)
Jeremy & others know me so I'm writing from the
standpoint of familiarity...we see each other at PK.
Otherwise, I don't have time nor plan to spend
much anymore on this site but will do so when I
perceive input would assist community discernemt,
etc......
So, when I'm "sharing" and constructively, instructively, or however each reads it in relation to his or her both culture or education, then the latter I cannot and will not control... Peace!
5thWaveSC
04-13-2002, 08:43 AM
Hey, Brad, re the my ref to red, no, it was not to
be taken as definitive...it was a mere statement
of personal fact, of which all our collective
sharing is being done on "this" post for that
purpose only: Sharing on a query "you" raised.
But, as far as red goes, it's positioned within the
product being "presently" created by us, not what
a past LEFTIST Cdn Prime Minister foisted on us
via our Canadian DICTATORIAL Democracy:
We do NOT have an elected Senate as in the USA,
so until that changes, we are a "relative"
democracy, etc. Anyway, I am not impressed with
the red in our flag! But, hey, yes, "you" choose
what you ultimately may: I will accept(!)
But I will still hate red, OK? (!) Peace!
