Yes, yes... the time has come for me to decide the fate of my 89. It recently got hit in the backend and boogered up the bumper and the exhaust. Needless to say I wasn't happy about someone hurting my baby, but I lived.....for about a week. Then the worst happened, when my exhaust took damage, it cut WAY down on the flow and now I'm the proud owner of a blown head gasket with 170k on the car. Should I let this SC go to it's final resting place or spend the money on a new engine(given mileage), new exhaust, rebuild the SC and tranny, replace some interior items, and get the body damage fixed?? The only reasons I'm debating this is because the car is completely stock from end to end, and it's been a GREAT car to me for 6 years. Ok... chime in here folks.. give me your opinions. :(

Oh and yet another debate I'm having it to sink the money in my SC or my Focus. Given the money, my Focus would be a pure bred monster! :D

Yes, if all he wants is stock.
OTOH, if he wants to do some modding then keeping the car could be a good idea since there's no point in paying for another that has good items he's just going to take off/change.

I would think it would depend on how much money you'll have to fix the SC and how much you want to keep it. Is the insurance company going to total it out from the wreck? Maybe you should focus on your Focus. :D

Sorry it took a while to get back to ya'll on this. The guy that hit me DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE!!! The only actual damage is to the bumper and the exhaust, didn't even crack a taillight. Now that leads me to another question, I'm wondering if I got a bad opinion on my head gasket. When the car starts, and it does without any problems, it blows white smoke and has a hard time idling. Also if you try to drive it, it's really weak feeling. But prior to all this the car idled very smooth (smoother than my Focus) and has always started easily. I'm wondering if this mechanic which is known for bad calls on cars told me straight or if he's just trying to get money out of me.
Thanks,

Yeah, before you decide to have the HGs done, get that exhaust fixed and see it it helps.
