Just trying to get an idea of what everyone pays for insurance on the SC. Full coverage, minimum liability, multi car discounts. I am paying 100 for minimum liability on the SC it goes to 350 a month for full coverage on it. No discount for having the Hoopty on there. I only pay 100 for the hoopty, you guessed it, because its a HOOPTY

Did you say $350 a month?!

I'm paying $110 a month for a 2001 Nissan Frontier S/C (lease, so full everything) and a PL/PD 1989 Cougar XR7. Little over $1300 a year.

I'd expect the Cougar alone to be less than $100 a month no matter what coverage I get.

I'm 30, male, clean record, Atlanta GA.

For a '92 SC Auto...

Male over the age of 25, married, clean driving record...

Full coverage insurance
$500 deductible on collision
$0 deductible on comprehensive
all other required by law...liability, un-insured, underinsured, etc...

I pay just over $50 per month. The kicker is the comprehensive insurance...If I upped that to $100 deductible, the cost would go down to right around $40 per month.

I do get discounts too...Multiple car discount, multiple policy discount and accident free discount.

Oh yeah...my brand new 2004 Trailblazer is $72 per month for the same coverage...

I have the worlds worst driving record, I got 6 tickets last summer in one town alone, 1 for 20 over in Atlanta and 1 for 40 over in Tulsa (thank god for a good attorney) So needless to say I like to drive fast. But my insurance for a 95 5spd SC a 93 5spd SC a 84 RX7 (for my little brother) and a 95 MX3 (wife) is only $120 a month for liability. And Im only 25. Try progressive they have been giving me a good deal for years.

I have the worlds worst driving record, and thats nothing to brag about. I have been trying to find a cheaper rate taking my record into consideration. Im just making sure I dont get boned too bad. By the way, there isn't a violation I havent gotten other than a DWI. (9 page driving record) I once got a ticket for stopping where there was no stop sign. (this only happens if you flip someone the bird where you stopped for honking their horn...you guessed it, a cop. Impeading traffic). Thanks for the help, This will help me shop around for the best rates.

Zip Code 91362; Thousand Oaks, California.

Wife and I are both 28 years old. Costco Auto-Insurance offered through Amex Assurance Company (American Express). We only have the minimum coverage required by law. After all, when you buy a car for 2,000 bucks, so what if you crash it. Besides, at that point, I'd take out the motor and put it in another SC.

Her car: 1990 SC Auto 144.00 every 6 months.
My car: 1993 SC 5-spd 169.00 every 6 months.

Grand total = $626.00 per year.

Auto seat belts, 6 year accident free, good driver. Another good thing about Costco Insurance: they didn't inquire into whether or not we had insurance in the past few years. (we didn't and most other companies wanted to charge more just for that.)

I'm 16 and my SC is $70 something a month for liability. My Escort is like $30something! Luckly my mom put me on hers and I didn't have to get my own like my friend had to to (his parents wouldn't help him get anything) and he pays as much for his ONE 1990 Bronco as I do for both of my cars :S!

The trick will be to not get the tickets and things that'll bring that up! Almost got pulled over today for Exhibition of Speed!!!! Was in my mom's LX and decided to show her how I torture her car all the time, so I turned @ an intersection and put it in neutral, revved to 5k, and dropped it back into gear. Her 96 4.6 Bird likes high revs and so it chirped a little. Sure enough, there was a cop I didn't see, and then lights in the rear view mirror. So, I pull over and he whizzes by!!! Some drunk people on motorcycles fell off or something a couple miles up :) PHEW!!!!

Anyways, I don't think $70 a month for a SC is that bad!!!! I don't think the insurance companies know what an SC is though, it's just a "slow" Thunderbird to them!

I should pay between 60-75$ Canadian per month for my 94 SC. I'm 30 with a good record. I have 1mill liability, comprehensive & collision. I just insured it like 3 weeks ago and some insurance reform came in 4 days after I bought the car so that's why I'm not 100% sure what I'll pay for it. My original quote was $74 I think.

Cant' remember but at USAA the rate code was highest on 89 and 95. The 91 is the cheapest of the 89-90-91-95 years I own. Same car but different rate depending on year.

No 5-spd Anny. cars? Bahhh, my brother drives one.

So, I wouldn't assume that these numbers are totally correct.

But, there does seem to be the most made in 89, and 95 is the most recent, so it would probably cost more to insure because it hasn't depreciated in value as much as a 1990 or 1991 (hey Doug, what's the price difference between the 90 and 91?)

... but what do I know... My summer project is taking all freekin' season long.

Allstate
Full covergae on the Kia 688/6 mo
Comprehensive (or so I thought)on SC 670/6mo

Where, Michigan. Supposedly the second highest rates in the country. I am so tired of getting bent over for insurance I am ready to go without. Then get this;

The SC is hit in a parking lot, as I am backing out of a spot, this chick in an Exploder backs out and hits my left front. Breaks the turn signal, bumper cover, headlight and mounting panel, lonf story short $2300.00 in damage according to Collex. Her insurance, State Farm, mine Allstate. I think, ok her company pays, alas klar! nope, no way no how.

$500.00 is what they say they will pay. I call my agent, she says, you have only PLPD Todd, I say, no Karen, I am paying you for comprehensive to cover vandalism, theft, collision, glass etc etc etc.....

Turns out Comprehensive thru Allstate does not cover collision, so I have an f'd up front end and an f'd up insurance company and I'll be damned if I can't find the original policy paperwork....ain't life a bitc!

Oh yea, it gets better. Last Saturday I park my car at Eastern Michigan University, meet the wife nd daughter. Go back to the car an hour later, some a'hole hit the driver side rear if the car, broken the bumper cover and turnsignal light housing F'IN A'HOLE!!!! I am so po'd

God help the jack a$$ if I find out who it was.....

Sorry to hear about that one... Allstate isnt the greatest sometimes.

BUt you did you know comprehensive did not include collision? I thought all insurance companies were like that. I have been with allstate for over three years and they told me that when I dropped my collision after moving to NJ. I dont even bother with comp/coll here cause there are so many idiots driving on the road. I have had two people not stop for lights and rear end me twice in the last month!!

Maybe thats why insurance is so high here

On another note, I did some shopping around, always a good thing to do when you are fed up with a company, and found lower rates with with geico. So 15 minutes did save me 15%!! My new premium for the identical coverage is now $881/6 mo. I dont know what allstate was thinking, I called them up and told them the other quotes but they said there is nothing they could do about it, unless I get married or turn 25, none of which are gonna happen anytime soon. Its their loss because as of the middle of dec, they will no longer have me as a customer.

Well at least I will be a little closer to what you guys are paying in NE and KS.

93 SC
98 Dodge Van
99 Ford E-150 van
2003 Toyota
92 Jeep Cherokee

Last five years Iíve had two accidents not my fault (Which does not matter) rates still go up. Son 18 had one accident. I pay a total of $1,210 per month on ins. I shop for rates all the time and this is the best deal right now, all with either max deductibles or min coverage. I will only make another Ins. clam with one of my cars get totaled. Right now i'm shelling out about 2300 a year. That's with one accident, 1 month after i got my license (which i hate myself for, because i wasn't doing anything wrong, i went to change the track on my cd player and someone pulled out in that second, and worst of it it was a 97 tbird. When i die i will roll in my own grave about that). Another three tickets, unsafe lane change, failure to signal lane change, and driving past midnight with a provis. license. I got that all knocked down to 1 no pointer ticket, because it was totally bs tickets. So that's my rate on that. The insurance renews in 3 months, and to that will be added another accident (i got wanged by a schoolbus in the work van at what i thought was a 4 way stop. i don't know, flashing red lights on both sides tend to do that to me), a wrong way on a one way (which should've been a u-turn on a one way), and i thought there was something else but that's all i can remember. Never speed, by no means a bad driver, just careless i guess. Anyone wanna take a guess what it'll go up to? I'm a 19 male by the way.

No 5-spd Anny. cars? Bahhh, my brother drives one.

So, I wouldn't assume that these numbers are totally correct.

The list is a little misleading. Ford didn't keep track of the number of Auto and 5 speed Anny cars, so the number shown is the total number of Anniversary cars produced (both Auto and Manual).

As for insurance on my SC, I pay $220 / 6 months with $500 deductable on Collision and $0 dectable on Comprehesive. My other coverages are slightly above the minimum. Mutli-car, multi-line, over 25, auto-seatbelts, accident and ticket free; you name the discount and I probably get it. My fleet

2003 Ford Escape XLT (Col = $1000 ded Comp = $500)
1999 F150 4x4 Xcab XLT (Col = $500 Comp = $100)

Plus 2 bikes
1999 Honda Shadow ACE
1994 Suzuki RF900 (liab. only.. but check rates on a sportbike for 'normal' people sometime)

Amazing that some folks are paying that for a 15 year old SC when I pay that for 6 vehicles. Maybe that's why ins. agents make money. :)

Hey BlackbirdSC, your profile doesn't say, but from the "fleet" you've managed to accumulate (ha ha you sound like me) I'd venture to guess that you are possibly just a "bit" older than 18........

There are SOME benefits of getting older; I'm 42 and when I had My SC I also had my Bronco, GMC Pickup, and beater Accord (liablility only) covered for about $90 a month. Sold the SC and bought a new 300C, still have all the others, and my bill is $120 a month. 1 speeding ticket on my record. ( it was the SC's fault....)

I bet an 18 yo with just a couple tickets (nothing real bad) would be paying triple that for my fleet. I'm just glad to see the young guys being responsible enough to have insurance in the first place!:)

1988 Cougar XR7 (3.8 V-6 SC)

discounts? just multi car

Insurance through Progressive. I pay $468.00 for 6 months (that's $78/month). For just the XR7 it is $133.00 for 6 months (that's $22.16/month).

I have shopped around for insurance many times. What I pay seems pretty reasonable, but hey, if I can get it cheaper with the same level of service I currently get then all the better, right? I have never found any company that could beat Progressive. I check GEICO (by the way that's an accronym for Gov't Employee Insurance Co. incase you didn't know or even care:rolleyes: ) .... 15 minutes saves you 15%????? Not for me. I forget the exact amount but they wanted 73% MORE:eek: Guess you need to be a Gov't Employee in order to get the good rates.;)

Just renewed my policy for another 6 months today and it dropped from
$468.00 for 6 months (that's $78/month) to
$383.00 for 6 months (that's $63.83/month)

Guess it pays to keep a clean driving record and stay with one insurance company for 10 years or so.
