hey guys i just ripped my intake apart and am about to take the silencer out and put a cold intake with cone in, just wondering if there is a reason not to modify the hole used for the silencer so the intake pipe can go through that and have the cone on the other side right in place of the silencer? Also this would work as a heat sheild for the cone.

shows lots of pics of the hole and surroundings.

im hoping to do the intake this weekend so a quick responce would be greatly appreciated :D

I have seen post on here where they would use pvc elbows to go through the hole to put the cone filter in the fender. Also MAC is a tubing specialist that makes exhaust and intakes. They make a cold air kit to do this.
Or you could do your own air box to get to the filter better.

completed today

Actually, that's quite a popular mod for cold air - to pipe down to a filter below the hole.

well since i didnt hear anyone say why not to, i went ahead and did it today, looks good and seems to help alot(why wouldnt it?) had a good laugh at the air silencer, what a joke, anyways, ill post pics when my camera gets back...middle of next week.

There are a lot of SCers that have their air intake set up that way. I believe one of the SC parts suppliers even offers that kind of air intake in a kit.

It will help in getting cooler air to the motor.
