I talked to Miles the other day about picking up his spare block. He is giving me a hell of a deal on it! (Thanks again Miles!) Anyways, I was down at my bro's mechanic who is currently rebuilding his SC engine with some performance @#%$. I'm thinking of having him build up that block of Miles' and do the same upgrades my bro is getting. He seems to know his @#%$ and is very cheap. I was wondering what it would cost me (ballpark) to have you do the following work if u'd be willing to take it on...
-new rings and bearings in bottom end
-remove old engine, build up and install Miles' engine
-mild cam
-port and polish heads
-larger injectors
-port exhaust manifolds
My heads are good. They were just pressure tested and milled.
Thanks soo much

It depends if you want an assembled short-block or long block(heads bolted on). I dont have time to bolt on the accessories(water-pump, brackets, wiring harness etc etc)...about a grand(i have to sit down and add it all up) just for the engine(includes gaskets, more for cam bearings, timing chain etc. should get those done),and I cant install it for a while(someone else can do that).
What I mean is, how complete do you want the engine?(I dont have time to have an engine 100% assembled...ready just to drop in)
The cam and injectors cost whatever you pay for them. I dont have any.
...or I can just do the heads/manifolds at any time(about 500 for both)

I was going to take the whole thing on myself. Do a lil reading and do my own headgaskets too...
But then i just got to thinking if it was cheap enough maybe i should just get someone else to do it. Not risk f**king something up. So got talking to my bros mechanic. He gave me some options and performance ideas and prices. He seems pretty damn cheap and seems to know what he's talking about.
$500 - Rings and bearings in Miles bottom end (hmmm  )
$400 - Head port and polish
$310 - Cam
$350 - Big injectors
$N/C - Port exhaust manifolds
$1500 - Swap rest of parts onto Miles block and install
What do u think?

sounds decent, but make sure the cam isnt too big, that the duration doesnt have lots of over-lap(should be a super-charged or Nitrous grind, not N/A) or have lift thats much past .500 with stock pistons. If hes giving you a grind from a shop in east van?, dont get it, thats my grind they're using(way too lumpy for an auto, maybe even a 5-speed, if you want a smooth idle). Ask Dr.FredH, Im sure he can come up with something much better.
Make sure that the base of valve bowls (roof) and the short turn radius have extra attention, they're the worst part. Dont bother getting the exhaust manifold inlets ported too much either.
I dont see new-oil pump, polishing crank, re-sizeing rods(with new rod bolts!!!!!!PS I have new bolts for sale:D ), etc etc. I'm assuming its going to be done or he'll look into it first.

He may have neglected to mention some of the smaller details as I was just trying to get an aproximate idea as to what the job would entail/cost.
Now I just have to come up with the $3000+. I think its time I sell my '53. Its just sitting and after driving a SC i dont think I couls stand an old truck again.
I'm curious what kind of a HP gain I might get esp with my '94 supercharger w/'89 pulley and soon to be opened up exhaust.
Thanks Raj
