Difference between Auto fluid and Type "F"

Difference between Auto fluid and Type "F"
Hi, I am going to flush my power steering fluid as my pump starting to make some noise and the fluid looks dark. I was wondering if the is a difference between regular Mercon auto fluid and Type "F" fluid that the manual stats I should use. The Meron fluid is easier to obtain in larger quantities (4L) seeing how it will probably take lots to flush the system.
