guys, onemore question. what is the proper procedure to test your alternator to see if it is putting out proper voltage and not working properly under a load?art

Simplest way is to check the voltage across the battery posts, not the clamps. Check for 14V or better when the engine is idling. For a load test, check the voltage when driving around by tapping into a fuse. Run as many accessories as you can and look for it to stay at a constant 14V or so as the car warms up and as the engine RPM is over 2000. You can prop the voltmeter on the instrument cluster to watch it. Minor fluctuations don't matter. If it holds voltage in all these cases, its fine. :cool:
