operation `head transplant' will be happening tomorrow.. lets just hope very little breaks well i do it :) And that i remeber to label all the hoses and connections correctly :)

also i hope to be able to do it in one day.. never done this on a FI car..

Well Took the upper intake off, valve covers, ect.. Everything was `fine', but i wanted just to try something, so i put back in my Orginal injectors (after breaking two of the `hat' things at the end of the injectors) Slap it back together,minus valve covers (2 fold thing) Fired it up, and it ran.. SMOOTH! <okay maybe not THAT smooth, but smooth enough

Well it's running BETTER, but not there yet, now it's like it's runningon 7 cylinders.. and only at idle to @ 1200RPM.. But `cruising' @ 900RPM it is nice a smooth... <shrug> I'm loss and tired, and i'm not gonna spend another full day fighting with it.. Starting to debate about taking it into ford and just tell them to figure out what the hell is wrong.. and give me a qoute on to what needs replacing and have THEM do it.. mind you, i'm getting pretty quick at taking the upper intake off now :)

My car doesn't run right, start it up, and it's like it's running on 4 cylinders (seriously this time..) So right now, i'm feeling abit on the sick side.. and i'm still at work, with Jerome..

You play with the plug wires? Just wondering, they have a real finicky firign order, when i changed mine i hate 5/6 switched and it screwed me over big time.

Then again, not sure if your 5litre has the same problems.

Before i go cry myself to sleep here's what i found...

Head gaskets where okay.
One Head bolt broken (not by me)
the 4 corner bolts on the intake where rutted baddly
sluge on either side of the `egr' passage n the lower intake
Rusty looking pistons
Orginal horing marks still there, slight faint thou... <that's the good news>
Rusty looking heads <cumbustion chamber/water passages> <ask jerome about how bad they looked>

Hmm what else... we'll see

Now it doesn't run right (sounds like it has a Z cam;) )
has an exhuast leak <header to down pipe, knew it would of done it>
Has a `sweet' smell out the exhuast followed by like a nice sour egg smell after the cats start to work over time

Hmm All and all.. Ithink i shoudl just get a l/B and toss it in.. BAH!! as if i'm gonna do that, i'll pay someone..

I did, i added a strategically placed hole from the intake to the exhaust valve bowl:D

ok you said the head gaskets are fine, so where did the water come from, is your block cracked? If you do not know that is ok.

it was the intake... <lower> that was leaking.. only thing is, it only killed passenger side O2 sensor, but BOY it pegged off alot more then that.. all 8 cylinders were `rusty' <except bore>

but like i said, no water in the oil no oil in the water.. Right now my car still has a `sweet' smell <from the exhuast> to it.. but it is fading away.. but thenit turns still to the `sour' (rutting egg) smell/burning up cat smell... IE i think i'm gonna toss int he straight pipe before blow the cats.. I know they only cost me like $60-70cdn each.. but that's like $70 i can do with out spending at this time :)

If only your brother came by at work (only hinted about it a FEW times) he would of been able to see how bad it was...

hmm nope, not now that's back together i would of loved to have reringed it thou.. but a little more work then i would of wanted to do at that time...

but i think it should be okay... if not, then it's not :)

I hope its the plug wires.
5.0 w/MSD = finiky plug wires.
We couldn't test them in the time we had and hopefully they are switched or not making contact.

Hmmm if i had time, ect.. Maybe tomorow night sometime, i try the orginal (that came with the car) plug wires... But i have never had problems with these wires for the last 3 tune ups (@ 60,000kms)

but i give that a shot before i try the injectors <ALOT easier to swap plug wires then injectors :)
