Planning to have tranny rebuilt. I am told 3 and 4 th gear syncros are obsolete. Anybody know if this is fact. Alternatives for supplier? I was told it is a mazda tranny, is that true

yes, the syncro assembly is discontinued from ford, but you can get the blocker rings from southern gear, and the syncro sleaves. so, basically anything you need is available. the blocker rings are the fiber lined pieces of brass that creat drag on the internal parts, slowing them down so the trans can shift without a problem, and the syncro sleaves are the pointy rings with grooves for the shift forks to slide moving the trans through the gears. they tend to get dulled when the trans gets older, and the blockers wear as well. never heard of anything else in the syncro assembly going bad regularly. good luck, mike
