Car all back together, will not turn over!!! HELP!

I have just done my head gaskets, and the timing chain. I put everything back together and now it just clicks like my battery is low. BUT, I tried jumping it and it still clicks! I ran codes with key on and the system passed, so I am assuming that means I hooked up the electrical connections correctly. Now is this just a very big coincidence that my starter is bad now after I have done all of this work, or is it that I messed something up and I am screwed!!?? The car is still at TDC, the key ways and dots on the new gears lined up perfectly, and cylinder one was on its compression stroke at the top. aside from the cam sensor possibly being more than 6 degrees out...what am I looking at!?

Any help is greatly appreciated, I just dont know what to do now!

sounds like starter or starter selonoid or dirty battery terminals, or bad battery got any headlites see if they look bright

We had the same problem when we put our 93 back together. What happend was we over tightend the wires on the stater solenoid and broke the plastic around the termanal and needed a new solenoid. The one on the starter. Its real easy to do but thats what happend. Hope this helps.

Well, I did not take off the starter or the solenoid. I will however replace that just in case...I have already replaced everything else! haha, thats the way things go with these cars. I appreciate the response. I am hoping it is something simple. The last thing I want to do is rip those heads off again!

Its always something simple and im sure you will not need to remove the heads again. Charge that battery over nite and check all the connections.

I've never tried this before, but if you want to be sure that the problem is with the starting circuit and not the engine, then unbolt the starter from the engine, lay it on a block of wood as close to the engine as possible (so that you don't have to disconnect the cables that connect to it), connect a thick jumper cable between the engine block and the starter body (since the starter is not touching the engine it needs an alternate ground connection), and then try to turn the ignition key. Again, remember that I've never tried this before.

im on my 3rd starter now in 219 k miles brushes went bad every time i opened them up and looked i never had trouble with anything else like the selonoids once in a while a car will come in my shop where the smaller wire to the starter isnt making contact (mostly escorts or gm and they will just click ) other than that except battery and one time pos batt was touching the hood

make sure the engine will turn over by hand, turn the crank with a socket to be sure nothing is looked up.

Turn the crankshft pulley nut clockwise ONLY (when facing it) with a 22mm socket (or on some cars with a 10mm allen wrench)

I had similar symptoms when my solenoid went out. I had not been working on the car though. I just tried to start it and got nothing but "click click click". The funny thing is that the T-Bird solenoid and my mustang's solenoid went out in the same week. Maybe it is caused by something in the air.

I can turn the engine by hand, I made sure of that. I had to in order to get it to TDC after tightening the crank bolt. I have a new solenoid which I will try today. After that I am doing the starter. Thanks for all of your help, it is much appreciated.
