how does the elevation affect the 1/4 mile time. i know it slows you down but how high do you have to be and how much does it affect your time.because the track that i go to its high elevation i dont know how high but i know its up thier.the track i race at is labanon valley dragway in new labanon NY. and i run 14.89 up their and when im at home in springfield mass i know i can feel the car run faster. anyways can some one explain this elevation crap to me.thanks.

Well, at higher elevations the air becomes less dense. Thinner in other words. It affects N/A cars more than boosted cars. There is a NHRA formula for figuring out your times at different elevations. I run a 15.7 where I'm at(5200-5800 ft) I figure at sea level I'd be in the high 14's. I would love to see someone in the top 5 come up to my strip and see what they run. Just a curiosity of mine. :D
