Wanted: Your Pic for the front page

blkthndr

former sccoa webmaster
I am ready to do this month's image for the front page of sccoa.com but haven't made up my mind.

Send over your pics, either post in this thread or email to scguys@sccoa.com

Pics need to be large, so I can crop if necessary, must be a Super Coupe or 89-90 XR7.

I have a blown up version of this pic if you want it. Its an 89 SC 5 speed. Figured you might like it if you are going the 'stock appearing' route. I also have a few of it with Engine 1 at the Fire House.

When you shrink the photo the quality gets better, its just that its not suppose to be that big, ever! :p

FastSC92: Looks like we have matching cars right down to the polished rims... I need to get that red pin stripe tho... that sets it off. :)

i actually took my stripping off. It was on the car when i got it and when it was painted again i told them NOT to put it back on, but they did. So i waited awhile then used this special drill-mounted eraser wheel to take it off.

I was looking at your rims and at first look I thought they were dipped and polished like mine... You jus polished them? I like these better than the Cobra R's... Well, until I get a set of 94-95 rims chrome dipped and another set painted black. :D

oh no, they are fully polished by hand, 14 hours each. Took a long time, but the results are one of a kind.

pic's for you to use.....

I had posted a couple of pic's a few weeks ago under a heading of "Six pack to go". They were all sc's and if you want you can use them. If you have any ??? feel free to hit me back.....thanks............Rich

There is nothing like the original wheels! So aside from the elbow grease, which I have plenty of in stock, :p what did you use to get these results??

a lot of sanding. All the different steps. The wheels are really course and pitted. So i strip the paint off, then use emory paper in 3 grits to get all the casting marks out. Then wetsand 220, 320, 400, 600, 800. Then 000 steel wool, rubbing compound, white rouge, jewlers rouge on cotton wheels, then some blue magic polish. Everything is done by hand except the rouge on the cotton wheels. Doing it by hand leaves a flawless finish without the marks of a machine. PLus its really tight in spots to mess around with anything else. Expect to spend 14 hours to get that chrome shine, otherwise it'll just look dull.

I hate to burst your bubble but these were done back in 1990 by the original owner. He paid to have them polished and I have the receipt.

P.S. I would rather have yours. Mine are in need of some attention.

I'm sure i'm not the only one with polished rims but what i was getting at is that its not very usual. Most people's are chromed dipped. Even between the chrome rims and the polished i bet there are no more than 15 cars like that. And only 3-4 being polished. Thats what i meant by one of a kind.
