I put my tbird on a portable dyno last week and i think
the numbers suck . my tbird is stock for now .the dyno
sead i have 161 hp at 4550 rpm and 235 lbs of tork at 3150. do these numbers suck for a stock sc ?

Usually a stock SC will dyno in the range of 185 - 210 rwhp and 275 - 310 rwtq.
Did you have an air / fuel reading done during the dyno run?
cheers,

Wow, that's low. Those numbers are on-par with a '96-97 4.6 LX.
Not meant to be insultive, just pointing out the facts. :D

Some dynos are just horribly inaccurate. They're probably very repeatable, so they're good for tuning, but no good for getting a HP number to bench race with.

Did you get the the air fuel #'s, or checked for vaccuum leaks?
"Lazy" seems pretty high for a 4.6 though!!!!

Dyno's are actually very accurate if operated correctly.
What kind of dyno was it? Mustang or Dynojet? Mustang dyno's read about 10% lower than a Dynojet.
Was your car hot? Did they spend a lot of time running it on the dyno? What kind of fan/cooling assist did they use?
I assume your car is an auto? Max torque is at 2600rpm so I am sure they started the pull at much too high of an rpm to read torque accurately.
Were those numbers STD or SAE?
Can you post the chart?

the hole dyno run lasted about 2 min it took longer to strap it down. they ran it up to forth gear at low rpm and stoped and ran it up to forth at 5500rpm. then he gave me a print out . good thing it didn't coat me a thing the air compressor shop i work for sponcered the lokel car show so they gave me a free pass for the dyno.I dont care what the print out sead when I pull the stick from first to second and the car is side ways wite the tires smoking thats what I like the dyno numbers mean nothing to me at that point.
its how fun the car is to drive thats what maters to me.
