New heads, new intake, new cams (and not shy ones, either) and i'm all worried about getting an e-test this year - no way LB is gonna pass. Got my papers from the M.T.O. today, open them up and......

"Model years to be tested for renewals due in 2004 - 2001 1999 1997 1995 1993 1991 1989 1987 1985"

Geez, I forgot about that whole "skip a year" thing.

YEAH BABY!!!!! :D

Ahhhh, that's a load off. :)

You could just get a fake one... :D

But that would not be legal...

Uhh, no. In my eyes, a fake e-test is just avoiding a problem that DOES exist with your car...... and one that could cause bigger problems down the road. It's the poorest excuse of poor maintenance i've heard of yet. JMHO.

For me, this is just taking the weight off my shoulders. It relieves the pressure to get the tune right by November. It'll still be done by then, but it's just not as crucial, in a legal kinda way. ;)

how is a fake e-test avoiding a problem if you have a built car? If the problems is fat cams and no cats.. thats not a problem in my eyes. :)

Huh? I think you're missing a part of the picture. If I may.....

Big cams and heads and intake can still be tuned to be emmissions-friendly. Yes, they CAN! Remember, there's a very narrow operating range that the machine "looks" at and if you know what it is (40 kph in Canada) you can tune around that.

Now, if you can't tune certain parameters to achieve this - you're screwed. THIS is what worries me.

Here's a combo for ya' - 5.0L block, fresh rebuild, forged rods and pistons (about 9.5:1 C/R), Edelbrock heads (the non-EGR kind), Weiand Roots BLOWER and a 750 DP Holley carb. All of that flowing into full-length headers, 2 1/2" exhaust all the way back with ONLY a pair of mufflers to slow down the exhaust flow (read: NO CATS!!!). Tuned with an AFR about 12.5:1, which easily qualifies as RICH.

Would it pass??????? Take a guess and explain WHY you think it would or wouldn't.
