I was wondering who here in the club has done it, and to how many "mm" did they increase it to ? What tools did you use, and where can they be found ?? I am thinking of doing it myself, just wanted to see what kind of experience people have had...
Thanks..
P.S. I might as well ask, i've heard of the inlet plenum being ported to 70 MM... What tools would i need to do it myself ??

I've quasi-ported mine, more like honing. Basically what I did was use my dremel to get in as far as I could reach (with the flexible attachment). This got about 2/3 of the upper tube, but not too much of the lower tube at all. I then took the tubes to a local blasting outfit and had the insides blasted with aluminum oxide. That smoothed out much of the casting imperfections. Total amount I had invested to this point was $30 for the blasting and another $15 for the flap wheels for my dremel. Once I was done, I sent the lower tube to get jet hot coated. Some claim it is a waste of $$, but I've seen significant gains in consistency. No real gains in peak hp, but better run after run. I also wrapped it with header wrap just to help it out. Total invested in upper and lower is about $100 +/-.
I didn't have the $$ or the ability to custom fab different tubes, so I went this route. I'm happy with it and if someone is like me, who has the time and not a vast amount of $$, then it helps.

manny, did you use a tstat housing and tube from a different car? if so, are you using a different intake? i would like that big tube outta the way to change pulleys and adjust tension on my idler pulley.

Wrapping the lower tube is a great idea...Use header wrap!

Well i am gonna go to some shops and see who is willing to do a porting on it and how much they would charge me, I am gonna pass by a Pep Boys or some other shop and get some "header wrap".. :) Anyone know of a good web place to get it for a good price ????
Thanks..

Last year I put on a lower Extrude honed tube and honed my upper tube myself and didn't see any difference at the track what so ever. I don't see any difference in my times, EEC chipped or unchipped, with the honed tubes. I also wrap my lower tube. There may be some cases where it might help but it didn't on mine. I'll be getting a new dyno tune soon so maybe that'll help get some benefit from it.
