On the XR7s there is several "badges" on the body and taillights of the car. All of these identification marks i want GONE! So obviously i have a couple of questions...
1. The emblems on the tail lights, they do obviously pull off, but what should i use to get the rest of the weather proof adhesive off of the back of them. then should i just polish them?
2. Again, same question but with the XR7 on the fender...
3. and lastly, there is an emblem onthe quarter panel, just behind the rear 1/4 window. I know that this emblem is held in by 3pins into the quarter panel, but the question is... After i take that emblem out and clean the surface with the solution from question #2, what should i use to fil in those 3 holes without having to sand and bondo and blend...
Any help on these questons would be greatly appriciated cuase i know ive seen it done. The only indentifying badge i want is the "SUPERCHARGED" badge on the fender
Thanks again guys

On items 1 & 2, as someone suggested to me, I used heavy duty fishing line and placed the line behind the trim/letters and pulled it thru the adheasive and they came right off. I did not take off the cougar emblem from the quarter panel becuase there would have been holes to fill.

I don't think there is a way around having to fill those holes and having that area (or more likely the entire section) painted. If you want as little work as possible I'd suggest just living with the logos. I think they're cool personally. :)
To remove the goo left from the emblems, I'd suggest Goo Gone or even rubbing alcohol but if you use that make sure to use rubber gloves or you'll bugger your hands (sucks the moisture out).

i used a plastic coated steel wire(thickness of fishing line) that you can get at a crafty store. then i used pb blaster (like i use for everything) and a razor blade to scrape the adhesive. it is brittle and dry so conventional adhesive removers don't work so well. be careful with the razor not to scratch the plastic.

After removing the trim I used my pressure washer to remove the foam part of the adheasive and goof-off solvent for the thin layer of glue and that worked really well.

So fishing line and goof-off should get the emblems off but how about the filling in of the cougar 1/4panel emblems...

If you must remove the emblems with the holes behind them and don't want to go to the trouble and expense of bodywork and painting, try plastic plugs from the hardware store. I've used them on the front bumpers to cover the holes for the license plate holder. You will need to paint them first and use some sealant to prevent water from seeping past and rusting the metal. They will be noticeable, however, as they protrude a little. Or just remove the emblems, paint them the same color as your car, and reinstall them. That will make them less obvious.
