Just a quick question - I've got a Trans temp gauge coming (once Thomas A gets it to me :D) and I was planning to put the sending unit in the trans pan. Just curious if that's where most people have put theirs or if a better spot is recommended. And what's a good way of running the wires and whatnot? I'm a total newbie at that so I'll take any suggestions and help I can get.

I've also got an oil pressure gauge going in as well, but not in as big of a hurry to get it in although I may try to put it in this weekend too if I get really bored.

Thanks for the help.

Well, I guess it depends on which you have...mechanical or electrical gauges. For my electrical Trans Temp gauge....there's a plug in the trans right above the linkage. I simply took the plug out and put the sender in there. It's the right size too....no adapters needed. For my electrical oil pressure gauge I put the sender in where the stock sender was....thus eliminating the stock sensor. This will throw a check gauges light, which can be fixed by pulling that bulb out of the dash. As for wiring....you need to run a wire to a 12v source. I tapped into a wire under the steering column. Use your voltmeter to determine if it's hot when the key is on and when the car is running also. I ran my ground to the metal underneath the dash. For the lighting I tapped into a wire on the headlight switch. Again, use your voltmeter to determine if the wire is hot when the parking lights are on and when the headlights are on. This makes for a clean install. Also, you can use one ground wire, one 12v source, and one lighting source for both gauges....there's no need to run 2 wires for each. Just run a jumper from one gauge to the other and then run your wire from that gauge to the (ground, lighting source, 12v source). Hope this helps...maybe this was too much info? lol Be clean and neat with the wiring...don't just slap something together.

Hrrrmmm... that's interesting. Are you talking about the line port?

I assume you're talking about the trans lines on the passenger side of the tranny? Nope, this plug is on the driver side of the trans, right above the linkage.

In the directions that come with a Lentech transmission.
They state that you will get the most accurate reading
from your trans temp guage.By placing the temp sending
unit in the side of the transmssion sump pan.

No, I'm talking about the small plug on the driver's side towards the front of the tranny just above the pan.
