So the other day im driving the SC and im going through a yield sign slow down a bit but there is no traffic its in a residential area at about 10 o'clock so not much traffic. Anyways slow down nobody is coming and so i proceed through. Cruising down the street and a i notice this car coming up on my fast. What a suprise its a cop. Sure **** the lights come on, i pull over and he ask me the normal question "do you know why i pulled you over" of course i really dont know what i did wrong this time so i say no. He then explains to me that i failed to yield at a yield sign. So of course i ask about it cuz i've never heard of that and then he told me that yield means pretty much stop. Long story short i didnt recieve a ticket due to a good record from what he said.

But that is the dumbest thing i have ever heard of if yield meant pretty much stop why dont they just put up a stop sign and for that matter nobody pretty much stops on the top of the highway onramp. So ~~~

Yup... GRADE A %100 real **** for brains cop...
Yeild doesnt mean stop, it means proceed with CAUTION... It would have been fun to see you go to court and win that battle ;)

all in all, remember that cops are here to serve us and not pick on us... i think

OK, just take my word for it that I know what I'm talking about. This may vary from state to state, but from where I come from in order for you to be guilty of "failure to yield" there must be a veh that you interferred with. ie: no other traffic=no violation, no matter what speed you were going. Where you have two streets merging, usually one of them is the "through" roadway and the traffic on the other roadway must yield. The sign is your advisory that you are on the road that must yield. BTW, you didn't get a ticket because, by your description, you didn't violate the law. I think he stopped you for a fishing expedition to check you out. John

I gotta go along with this .... it was late enough and you were probably alone ..... Ive been stopped like this before by our local department and I KNOW THEY WERE OUT LOOKING FOR DRUNK DRIVERS!!!!!

Any excuse is good enough for "probable cause"...... I actually had a friend get stopped on the interstate for "bald tires" one night ........ he was going 55 when they pulled in behind from an on ramp ....... (go figure) :D

Does this mean that late at night when the traffic lights are in flash mode, the traffic with the flashing yellow light needs to come to a complete stop before going through the intersection?

You should have begged that cop to give you a ticket, just so you could make him look stupid in court. :D

I got a "warning" for failing to come to a complete stop right by a neighborhood. Biggest ******** ever. When the cop turned on his lights I tried to get out of his way until I realized he was following me. I can't believe he wasted his time writing me a warning. Stupid ****.

so his sargent and a whole crew of cops comes over to check out my car after 1/2 hr sargent comes up to me

he said, you didnt have a dl and it was on the seat with your wallet,
and he said you had a gun in glove box with registraition,
of the dead woman in the trunk but we found reg registered to you and current ,

and no dead body in trunk ,

I said what a liar he is man bet he even said i was speeding ,

That sure is a crazy story manny, but it sounds like a good way to confuse the crap out of the cops and maybe they would forget about the whole speeding thing.

I got pulled over when I lived in Santa Barbra ,Ca. They stoped me,guns drawn.Three other cop cars show up in seconds. They cuff me through me in one of the cop cars. Then they wanted to see in my trunk.

They pulled me over because A neck tie was hanging out my trunk.
They though I had a dead body in the trunk of my Mercury.

lol my neighnor is former LAPD..but is now working as a detectvie..

he told me something that always makes me worry...he told me that it is REQUIRED to give AT LEAST one citation to a citizin every day or at least stop someone and record it...

so like you said it was late at night...maybe he was gonna be off duty and needed one fast...lol...its scary

jus imagina jus ONE DAY were every body didnt break the speed limit or speed laws...THEY STILL HAVE TO GIVE SOMEONE A TICKET!!...or pull them over...makes you think right? ;)

That is why I do not beleive in states that have Quotas. A judge will believe a cop saying your speeding over you saying you weren't.
So much for PROVING a person is guilty. And that "Reasonable Cause" is a bunch of $%!#%^#@%^#@$
