has anyone found a plastic one to work on as SC to get rid of the heavy steel pulley?
I checked the yard yesterday and found several 93 LX cars with aluminum power steering pulleys....going back to pull a couple...
check your local parts yard

Would it make much of a difference? I'm sure i could grab one from my local junk yard as well.

The link above is to a group purchase on a CNC machined aluminum two piece pulley. The stock pulley is about 2lbs, this one comes in slightly under 2lbs according to the posts. It's designed to have a hub that is pressed onto the p/s pump shaft with the pulley fastned by bolts.

I am not aware of any plastic replacement. There is a manual gear rack out there for mustangs that will fit in the SC if you want to get into some real weight savings.

I'm running a 6 rib Plastic one myself. I think it was about 20 bucks or so form FORD. FAST ED N can help you out on what part # it was. I think it came off of an EXPLORER.

No group purchase needed as Heartland stocks these. As Mike pointed out, it's a CNC machined aluminum two piece pulley but the pulley is screwed onto the hub and not fastened by bolts. Heartland also makes tensioner pulleys for our cars, as does, Billet Flow.

Follow the link below for Tensioner pulley and PS pulley pictures and ordering information:
