ABS Pressure Switch advice

For anyone who has replaced the pressure switch in the ABS unit, do you have any tips for easily removing it from the car? Liquid Wrench? I pulled the donor switch from another unit, and snapped off the ABS pump in the process because the switch was stuck so tight. I was able to still remove the switch, but now my second ABS unit is useless. Anything will help.

Thanks,

Bob

Here's a link to my old post when I did mine. I have become pretty good about pulling out the ABS Unit after three times, once was from using an USED pressure switch, and a bad Accumulator. For under $200, you can have both brand new. Give a hollar if you need help.

This is the SAME pressure switch as used by Ford, but 1/3rd the price.
"GM Part #25530882 (Pressure Switch)
Paid $75.00 from http://www.buy-gm-parts.com/
Shipping will run $12 - $25 depending on how fast you want it.
Price is now $83.00 and part number not found. Basically click on "OEM Catalog" choose "1988 Buick Reatta" and then in the Brakes" section choose "Anti Lock" then "Pressure Switch". OR just email them the part number direct. They shipped it out in two days to me, just UPS took forever.

I finally joined and sent the money via paypal, but I guess it takes some time for my permissions to change allowing me to view the members section forums. I'll check back in a bit.

Well, I did it. Pulled the whole ABS unit out, put the new pressure switch in, and put the unit back, all in under 3 hours, including dinner. It wasn't very hard to do, much easier than trying to put the pressure switch in with the unit still in the car.

That link above for the 35th Anniversary ABS article that Duffy Floyd wrote will walk you through the ABS System, including troubleshooting the switch, relay, and pump motor. It tells you how to tell if the switch is bad, other than a obvious leak coming from it.

How did you know the switch was the problem?

First we (me and my dad) tested the two relays on the passenger side of the car, and the pump didn't work. Then I unplugged the harness going into the pressure switch (very tough to get to), and jumpered the number four pin to a good ground on the vehicle. If the pump runs, the switch is bad. If it doesn't, you've got bigger problems.
