View Full Version : Race Team?

I'm not sure how this will go over, or if it will even be tolerated, but at the Power Fest I had an idea.

I know there aren't many of us who actually race these cars, but I was wondering if anyone would go for this crazy idea. I watched a lot of the cars make passes with logos and stickers all over the race cars. Well, I was thinking how cool it would be if I were to make a pass with the SC with an "SCCoFL Race Team" sticker on the car, for us guys who actually race the cars, IE myself and Jake, and sometimes Flip. Then maybe under that logo add a number based on the fastest to the slowest...kind of like a funny car rank.

I'm not trying to make a special clique in the club, and I'm sorta new to the site/club as it is, so I wouldn't want to upset the good vibe(s) this club has, which is why I love you guys. I just think it would be kind of neat to give special recognition to those of us and our cars who see track time. ( When the cars are running.)

I would get the logos together after some brainstorming of ideas...but mainly they'd look like the logos for the SCCoFl that I've seen on a few cars.

Just an idea...feel free to shoot it down.

Sounds ok to me, but I also am fairly new to the club. I think you would have to run well to use the SCCoFL Race Team Logo. We would wait for you by the finish and rip it off the car, if you didn’t have a good run :D :D :D
I think I'll leave the Race Team stuff to you and Jake. Mine's just a Friday night cruiser..

I like the sleeper look TJ, that's why I don't have an aftermarket hood. I would however like a SCCoFL sticker maybe 4 inches long 1 inch high for the small side window.

i still have a couple club stickers left they are 2" x 8" without the Adam Mullen memory badge i guess we cant ask members who never had a chance to meet him keep that part on if they didnt want to

Oh. No offense, but I don't see what one has to do with the other.

I was going to make it about the size of the SCCoFL deacal...just have it say race team. It's not advertising your time or anything...just saying that your car sees track time. The number would just represent that you're the x'th fastest in the club.

I guess I'll get off the subject...just thought it would be kool if at certain meets/events we were just kind of representing the club.

Sorry, J. I didn't know you were into racing...I don't think we had that conversation...maybe we should. ;)

I am being serious though...at something like Fun Ford Weekend and Ford Power Fest...I think a few of the club cars representing the club on the track would be really awesome.

I'd be willing to work things out and whatnot.

Thanks for the input guys...

I'd run mine TJ but the tranny isn't good enough to do that and still drive it afterwards....

If you want to do a sticker we could do it, we just need approval from Brad and George Davenport on the design before you produce or represent it out there anywhere.. I don't think George or Brad would care really, just out of respect for the seniority and ownership of the organization mainly..

Who needs my address to send me the number 1? :p :D

And no, I don't mean tell me I'm number one with a 1-fingered salute.

Kurt...if I'm not mistaken...you're not in FL anymore...;)

I was just going to keep it SCCoFL members...it would get really confusing with an SCCOA race team, although I'm sure someone could, I'm just not willing to put in the effort.

I'm glad I got some positive feedback. I'll see what I can do, maybe start getting things together after my SC gets back on the road.

RJ, I thought you were against the racing aspect?

TJ,

No I'm not against it...

And be careful what you say to Mr. Kurt K you don't know him, he might just have to drive his very fast, but street legal SC, that comes down here every couple of years to visit his relatives, and smack you around on the track and teach you a lesson that none of us "even Jake" can currently come close to teaching you...

That is not the Kurt B that has the XR7s, This is the Kurt that is one of the founding, senior and long time members of the SCCOA family, and more than welcome honorary members of the SCCOFL..

Check out his member number and look at and weep over his timeslips boys!!

I goofed. I wish I had the kinda money to do that...and make the upkeep.

His mod list looks like a fantasy SC shopping list.

I think he broke into the 12s here in Florida, at Gainsville I believe, so legally being an honerary member of the SCCOFL he would take the number one position and the best anyone here can achieve currently is "Number 2".. Now I'm sure Jake is capable of doing what Kurt has, but it takes a bunch of money to get there... I darn sure don't have it... And we are just trying to get yours running on the road... Mr Kurt K might, just might, give you some help one day...

I eneded up buying those Morana I heads, so as soon as they get here...I'm going to tear her apart. I already asked Greg if he'd give me a hand with it...and I need his tools and knowledge. We're just concerened about the space to do it in...I have a good amount of parts to do the buildup...so I'm hoping Thanksgiving the latest.

Any ideas or suggestions, Oh Wise One?

Hey I would be honored to be 2nd behind someone like Kurt, I've only met him once but I can tell you he knows his stuff. Hopefully after I install this whipple kit I will be running 13.2's. Next will be heads just wish they wern't so expensive but I will have them by april or as soon as the hg's go I'll get them. Maybe I'll see what the fastest SC in South Carolina is since I visit once or twice a year then I can be the fastest somewhere. :D

Wow, a lot of replies since I was at work today. Well, here goes.

Although I do like the "Urban Legend" sound of RJ's recollection, I did not break into the 12's at Gainesville. I did spend a week in Ocala and on the way out of town, stopped in Gainesville and unloaded the car at the track. I made several passes on my newly purchased ET Streets. Then put the street tires back on, loaded the luggage and tires into the car, and then continued to drive the rest of the way to St. Louis

For the record, I only ran a new (at the time) personal best of 14.448 @ 93.36 mph.

No worries TJ, I only chime in hear ocassionally to keep the guys on their toes. As for my mods, I'm sure you saw that the majority were purchased over 5 years ago...at that time I was traveling the country, getting paid per deim and leaving at home with the parents (when in town). Instead of saving for a house, I found my money pit :)

I actually feel partially responsible for kick-starting the Florida chapter back into action last year (or was it 2 years ago) when I suggested the date for a mini-meet when I would be in Florida. This place has flourished ever since.

Brad: Actually, there was a different sticker that was handed out at Carlisle, but I'd still be honored to have that sticker. I'll PM you my address.

It's not looking good for 2005. I've got a ton of stuff going on. I'm hoping to take my Professional Engineering License test in April and I'm getting married in September.

Don't worry though, I'll definitely post when I'm heading your way.
