Hmm have you tried having the tranny flushed? Mine was acting up and slipping out of gear, so i took it to a tranny shop and they wanted $2000 to fix it, then i was told to take it in and have a flush done to it, and well its been almost a year now with no problems. So try that first.

Jamie your was very minor, if the tranny will not come out of gear it is a much more serious problem.

Keep in mind that No car is a Tranny Technician and he knows exactly what the problem was with Jamies car and that it couldnt possibly the same with yours.
Chances are if theirs grinding a flush wont do it. But if there is no grinding its very likely the valve body is just stuck in which case it would do good to flush it, which may fix the prob. But what am I thinking, no car must be right. He doesnt even have a car hes so right.

since we're talkin bout trannies, i never thought about the idea of a flush.
My car is slightly sticking gears....usually just when ya start up...1st will stick till 3500rpm or so..then when i come to a stop, it'll hold second or third unless i shift manually, then after that it's pretty well fine.
Also i notice it's not always in first gear when i start off, it's kinda in neutral or something and it hesitates then kicks into first and ya go.
i gotta take it in on tues...but does that sound like something a tranny flush might cure? Or am i too getting my tranny redone on warranty again.

Well I'm waiting for the tranny shop to call me back right now so....... We'll find out soon exactly what it is...... But I'm guessing it something really major.. It was an all of a sudden thing...... But i guess me taking the car to the max the day before didn't help........ Took it up to 185KPH..... And seeings how i was having some trouble with the tranny before i did that I would say that had something to do with it....... Oh well...... My own fault....

Just got the final word on thr tranny and how much it is going to cost...... Not 100% sure what is wrong but it is something really major..... They have to totaly rebuild the tranny...... It's going to cost me $1600 after taxes and everything but that is a complete rebuild and a B&M (????I think thats what it's called) shift kit put in...... I wanted to get a transgo shift kit but they would of had to have one shipped in from the west coast and that would of cost me a lot more so i went with the other one..... So I'll have my car back on Wednesday if not late tomorrow.......

$1600 sounds pretty expensive for a rebuild. I live in calgary and up until last year had a 1990 supercoupe. i had to sell it for a mortgage down payment, but still hang around the site to keep on current events. My AOD crapped out on me the day i put it up for sale. i found a shop in town here that would do a complete rebuild on it for under $1000 installed. and a shift kit would have only been a few hundred more installed. I had my SC for over 3 years and loved it to death. its the best car i have ever owned. I was the one that discovered Prior remanufacturing for rebuilt master cylinders. i refused to pay the $4000 to ford to have it replaced. when i made the anouncement that you could get them for about $500 everybody jumped in, and they have been backordered ever since. any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.

In all likelihood you didnt get yours rebuilt, you got a Rebuilt or Used unit put in. Family business is transmission shops... And no one in the right mind would do a rebuild plus re and re for 1000 CDN... Its just not worth it. Try at least 1500 if your lucky... right up to 2000 for stocker parts... all the way to 3500 with A Wide Ratio set and a shift kit. Hard parts in a tranny are expensive... I wouldnt pass up a place doing it for 1600 (retail), because you wont find that cheap other places!!!

Yah, mine was $2k and that was with a discount. He beefed it up to make it near bulletoproof, and threw in a trans-go shift kit.
