View Full Version : My current fuel system good enough?

I emailed the previous owner about the fuel system since I was worried about detonation with all the modifications. He said he installed 36lb injectors he got off of ebay. There's a brand new 255 lph fuel pump in the trunk waiting to be installed (I'm assuming i currently have a stock one on right now).

Intake, 73mm MAF, 70mm TB, 94-95 inlet plenum, raised top, 10% OD pully, UD pullies, flowmaster exhaust, intercooler fan, shift kit

1) Are the 36 pound injectors sufficient for now?
2) How far should they take me power wise?
3) Should I be worried about running the stock fuel pump and get the 255 one installed ASAP?

If it has a stock fuel pump then it won't keep up with 36lb injectors. You may not be maxing the injectors though so it may not be a problem at the moment. But yes, install the pump.

As for the injectors, they will support up to about275rwhp without problems.

The stock pump for an 89 isn't really big enough for 36# injectors. I think it is only a 110 lph pump and it's probably the original and getting tired.

If it were me I would install the larger pump.
