What is the best way to check the timing on a 89 SC??? My dad thinks that my timing may possibly be off, creating it to skip and PING(with Prem gas).

Todd

p.s please tell me "the timing isnt adjustable" i already know that

Pull the spout plug and check with a timing light. Its supposed to be 10 deg BTC from what I've read. The spout shorting plug is located next to the DIS/ICM on the compressor bracket. Pulling itt stops the EEC from controlling the timing and causes the ICM to go into a fixed timing mode that can be checked if you desire.

Oh, and stop running premium gas.. 91 octane or better. If you absolutely must run lower octane, pull the octane plug which is buried under the EEC test harness. It will cause the EEC to pull timing and reduce knock.. Also, pull codes, your knock sensor may be having a problem.
