I saw this and couldn't believe it! Half Ton Man (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/041027/480/sdsio10110271726)
Exerpts-
Patrick Deuel, 42,
He had been bedridden since last fall and was malnourished.
After being admitted to the hospital at 1,072 pounds.
Before going into surgery on Tuesday, Deuel had lost 421 pounds!
Deuel, a former restaurant manager from Valentine, Neb., is just under 6 feet tall and has always fought his weight. He weighed about 90 pounds in kindergarten and more than 250 pounds in middle school.
Too bad it's not that easy to drop 400 lbs off of a SC... :D

My point exactly!
Like an SC diet....maybe she lost some weight after that long drive to the shootout? ;)

How do you weigh somebody that big? I mean he'd crush a normal scale. Did they stop at a truck scale or something? They'd have to, I mean he must have needed a flatbed to haul him in.
Personally, I'm not sure how somebody so damn fat can be malnourished. I guess if you eat doritos as your only source of food...

I knew a guy that was like 600lbs or so and that is the way he weighed himself.....he went to a truck stop weighed the car and then weighed it again with him in it so yeah thats pretty much the only way to do it.....

A 600 lb person could use two scales, one for each foot, and then total the two readings. To avoid crushing one of the scales  , he'd have to step on both of them at the same time which can be accomplished by first sitting on a chair (rated for 600+ lbs, of course), placing one foot on each scale, and then standing up.

How the hell do you let yourself go so badly you weigh over 1000lbs??? I can see people who have a slow metabolism getting up to 250-300lbs. I mean PUT THE FORK DOWN AND GET YOUR FAT *** OFF THE COUCH! Losing weight isn't hard. Eat less, excersize more. Nothing complex.

Each person has his own demons. And losing weight must be hard; just look at half the population!

Losing weight is not hard nor is it a demon. It's painfully simple. All you need is a small amount of motivation. And as far as half of the population being overweight, how much do they excersize and how much fastfood do they eat? I dare say not much excersize and lots of fastfood. But there is pretty much no reason whatsoever for a person to be over 300lbs unless they're damn near 7' tall or something. It's just pure lazyness.
I have an aunt who is closing on 400lbs and she ever excersizes and eats KFC 4 times a week. I wonder why she's so fat. hummm!!?

If all that is needed is a small amount of motivation, why is half the population still overweight? Could they all be so lacking in motivation? Obviously getting enough exercise and not stuffing one's mouth is not easy for many people.

All he's saying is that people aren't fat because they were born that way. They are fat because they can't muster up a little bit of motovation and actually try to lose weight for more than a week. All fat people try to lose weight, the majority quit in like a week, some actually do accomplish their goals. Which proves that if you really want to you don't have to be fat.

I agree that people aren't fat because they were born that way. For example, ethnic Chinese in Hong Kong are overweight while those in China are not, Americans of European descent are overweight while Europeans are not. All I'm saying is that it's not easy for many people to muster a little motivation to stay slim. Maybe if gasoline and fast food become so expensive that people would have to cycle to work and bring their lunch with them. And when they get home in the evening, cable TV would be so expensive that they wouldn't have any motivation to turn on the TV.

I didn't read into the article on this particular man's situation, but i have a daughter that was born with thyroid problems, and just exercizing and eating less only helps to keep from putting on more weight. If you don't have a weight problem, than that's great, happy for you,but for some your EZ recipe for a happy life is just not an option.

Of course there are some exceptions where it's very hard for some to loose weight. But do these exceptions cover the 50% who're overweight? I doubt it.
And what Pearlbird said is bang on. We all start with a clean slate, its up to you what to do with it. Personally, I'd probably draw somebody giving the one finger salute! :D
