Face Lift For The Bird

I watched an episode of Pimp My Ride and the last one I saw they took a 93 Escort and put a 3 Series BMW front clip on it. That got the gears in my head turning while looking at the faded headlights and chipped paint of my 89 SC. On top of that, I have always wanted Projectors on my car.

So my genius idea is to put a not-so-dated front on my SC to bring it up to date. Any ideas guys? I think Id just like to put a late model Mark front on it.

me too

I was at the junk yard the other day looking at a '91 Mark VIII front end to put on my car. Just don't have the facilities to do it right now or I would have brought it home with me. I was also going to get all of the black panels out of it also. If anyone is interested, it is near Charlotte, NC.

Mark VIII's were made from 93-97. I don't know how well the body lines will match up. I know for a fact that the Mark 8 fenders will not match up to the body lines of the MN12 doors.

A common upgrade is the swap to a 96-97 Tbird front end. There is plenty of info on this swap over at tccoa.

I've heard that the body design for the SC was very much "inspired" by the 80's BMW 6-series. I've parked next to one before, and although the front, rear, and window designs are of course different, the profile shape of the body is almost identical. You could probably make the front clip fit on there and have a BSCMW. :D

I've always felt that they are very similar in proportion and style, and now know that there is a basis to that.

Hmm, I think its time to get Xzibit to PIMP MY RIDE! JUST KIDDING! :D

I just want something unique. I even know of a Prelude with a Skyline kit and thats awesome. I think that it would be really cool to have an SC with maybe a M3 front end especially with the Angel Eyes. It would be a lot of work but would be a show stopper for sure. I like going where no one has been before with these cars. There are so many possibilites. Wish I knew how to use Photoshop cuz Id love to clip a pic of an M3 onto an SC. maybe with a set of late model M5 rims...

Not sure it you want to stay T-bird or not, but lots of guys have taken thier older birds and put the front end of a 96-97 bird on thier cars...not too hard to do and pretty cheap too.

I would consider at 96-97 front swap but for one its hard to come across a 96-97 in a junk yard that isnt torn completely up. maybe a 96-97 Cougar front with the emblem shaved...

Has anyone done a 96-97 light swap with the 94 front bumper? I want to do this on my '91 and I would like to see a pic of what it would look like.

yeah theres a couple guys that did that if you look in the members rides under 94-95 im sure you will come across a couple and George Davenport also did it he has a 89 so look at his also

I like the look of the 94-95s. I loved the look of my 94 LX, but i also have grown to like the look of my 89.. I just wish it looked meaner like the 96-97s do. I know it would look bad with a set of projectors... and if only the headlight assemblies were clear like the 96-97 headlights are. Wish I could get a Mark body kit to fit too...

HEY BRANDON, Where you been, haven't seen or heard from you lately. I saw that episode of PIMP MY RIDE also, pretty cool what they did. You need to call me or stop by this Monday or Tuesday, I'm ready to start up the 95 bird!!!! It's all back together and I got the clutch line hooked up and got her to turn over but haven't started her yet. All I have left to do is throw the rest of the exhaust back on and then it's ready to start ( 1 hour tops). Also, I blew an oil line today ( SAT ) on my 90 bird, was going down 64 to work and then boom, tons of white smoke came billowing out the rear, can't wait to get rid of that car and get the 95 on the road. Have you gotten your shifter fixed yet??? About the front end mod, I was thinking of trying out a GRAND PRIX or BONNEVILLE bumper cover one time when I go back out to Chesterfield Auto Parts to see if one of those would fit. I don't like the idea of putting GM crap onto the bird but if it looks really good and works then it may be an option. I'll probablly try giving you a call Monday to see if your free to stop by............................LATER, DOUG

and YOu were saying that I should have gotten an AOD? lol, my oil likes are A-OK lol. :) No, the shifter still isnt fixed... had to pay a 271 dollar reckless driving ticket to Henrico County lol. Lets just say that drifting is illegal! :D anyway, glad to hear the 95 is up and together. Lookin forward to that joyride!

No, no GM crap for my car, sorry! Ill just do a 96-97 swap and maybe an aftermarket body kit along with a set of rims (your cobras). i need tires anyways.

BTW, I took a Buick GN last weekend. Barely got him but it was fun. didnt think i would get him, guess the 5% helped a little. I NEED 327 gears though!

i want l.e.d tailights that light the whole rear (reflectors over plate) anyone know of anyone does this it will take a awhile if i have to try on my own. do they even make projector lights for 89 sc?

this is the 96 front on a 94, the only issue is the bumper needs to be shimmed up and outwards to match the 96 hood.

i installed this before selling... and then rebuying my 94. :D

i also added gravy to the potatoes by upgrading the wiring harness to handle some 80/100w bulbs... they are bright white and do a fantastic job with the clear lenses... hid's are probably in the near future. :D

Pimp my ride .. wow somebody brought up an old thread.

LED tail lights .. I thought we already had them on later model Tbirds ... hmmm.

I remember when everybody on TCCOA said it was impossible to install 97 headlights on a 1994 Bird ..
