heres my problem, i have a stock AOD tranny and it seems to have gone bad. i think it might be due to the fact that when my radiator went bad i had it replaced with a 5spd Rad, and ran a external cooler for the tranny, is this ok? i heard somwhere that it should still run through the rad and then into the cooler, what can be done other than changing the rad back for an auto?

I have heard that you should use the stock (radiator) tranny cooler, and I've heard that you shouldn't... One thing for sure, if you burned up the internals of the tranny, the tranny cooler is probably contaminated with sludge and metal bits. It will need to be thoroughly flushed or replaced before you install a new tranny. I personally think that it is OK to just use an aftermarket cooler if it is mounted in front of the radiator, and it is large enough (or you could install two coolers). It might be a good idea to check the temp on the return side of your cooler with a (laser) probe, or rig up a temp guage....
