What converter to get?

This winter the car is going to get a little work done and I think that something other than the stock converter would work better for racing next spring. I want to keep it drivable for the street and retain my lockup. I think the stall on mine now is about 1700-1800 rpms. I'm guessing that something in the 2300-2400 rpm range would get the car moving off the line faster but I'm no expert. Can I get one from a Mark 8 or Maurder? You can see a list of my current mods on my members page if that would help in deciding what I should use.
Thanks.

I assume you have a 94/95? You can install a marauder converter with a aftermarket flexplate. TCI sells a flexplate intended for instaling a 5.0 HO in place of the earlier 302's. It's holes are on a 10&1/2 pattern so the holes will need to be modified slightly. I have made several threads about marauder converters on TCCOA. Here is some good reading.

Actually I could be wrong on the balance. It looks like a stock markVIII flexplate will bolt right on. This could be very good news.
