View Full Version : More bad news - Budget passed away

Over 16 years ago, we adopted a wonderful loyal and loving Dalmation we named "Budget". She enjoyed climbing and then going down slides. She loved to play monkey in the middle. When she ran full-out and then leapt over fences or any other tall objects, she was extremely graceful. She was able to play dead on command - "bang-bang" and she would flop over. She fetched my coat and shoes (and could distinguish between mine and Karen's), and her leash on command as well. She wanted to be a lap dog but did not realize she was too big. When we were upset, she would reach up and give us a hug and actually squeezed.
Over the past few months, her health degraded - she became blind, deaf, then lame. A few days ago she refused to eat and did not want to move off her bed. On her last day, she gave me a kiss. She finally passed away Thursday.
We miss her.
On the brighter side, we are starting a search for a new dog.

Sorry to hear about that, Steve. The loss of a longtime pet can be pretty tough. Our family had a dog when I was growing up, we finally had to put her down due to health issues when she was about 14. That was a tough day for me.
Hopefully you are able to find another dog that will help to fill that space in your life.
cheers,
Ed N.

Steve,
Having met Budget personally, and seeing how much she meant to both Karen and yourself, I feel for your loss. On behalf of Alecia and myself, I'd like to express our condolences. ...At least you've still got one furry, four-legged friend to still keep you company while you search for another dog to share your home with.
Sincerely,
Sean
P.S. ...You've got mail!

I am sure we all share your loss. It is never easy to lose a longtime friend, whether four legged or two. Heres hoping your next friend brings you as much joy and happiness.

I love Dalmations, I used to have a pure-bred Dalmation, she had one blue eye and one brown eye, she was a great dog, I still miss mine, we had to give her away when we moved, she is probably dead now as well, she was getting old and pure breds don't live as long, I am glad I did not have to see her pass on, but still miss her a lot, at least I got pictures, one picture of her with my wife and I before we were married, thats my favorite.

Really sorry to hear that...
Pets are often as important in a family as the people themselves...
Be strong, and good luck finding a new addition to what sounds like a nice home :)

Sorry to hear that Steve, I also had to put down my dog quite a few years ago, it's not easy. If you want I have a couple of damn dogs now trying to get rid of one or I got a couple of kids can easily part with one. :D Just trying to cheer you up.

Oh my! Steve, Karen, we are sooooo sorry to hear about this. Being one person that has actually met Budget and knows what she meant to the two of you and having pets myself I can really sympathise. You have both of our condolences on your loss. Good luck with the search of a new pet!
I'm going to miss her growling at me like i'm a "piece of walking rawhide". ;)
