Woah Julian...I must have done something wrong. I spent over $5500 just to go from 13.90's to 12.90's.
I think I need to buy more parts used :)

where did you get the air dam on your cougar?

I probably run around a 13.5 to a 13.7 slowest, and I have spent about $1300 on my car. I think i can get into 12's without nitrous and $5,000 more. I havent even ported my blower yet, but i have a MP inlet.

Unless you run it and know for sure that the car runs 13.5 dont guess, it takes money to make these cars go fast and feel in the but will trick you. Go out there and know for sure that you can run that fast. I know ive been discuraged thinking my car ran fast and ends up being slower that I though.

bah humbug, that sucks. Well I suspose I will have ~6k in mine a damn blower ever shows up. I guess I really just didin't want to think about it. Why haven't I put a 5.0 in there yet?..
XR7 Dave

Heads/cam $1500
Tuning $800
nitrous $750
tires $350
exhaust $500
fuel system/intake parts $650
Ported 95 blower and inlet $500
I think a person could run 12's for about $5000 if nothing breaks. I think Fast92 is probably the fastest low budget SC out there right now at 12.7-8.

Julian,
They aren't any cheaper to make fast, especially if your planning to exceed 500 rwhp. But they do have alot more power potential and a bunch of aftermarket support.

I'm not going to read through all that crap but I know of one stroked 5.0 (347) with a 150 shot that runs low 12's. It's a lot more car than a little 16yr old punk could handle too. :)

As long as it weighs in at 3800 pounds and has 2 12W6 JL Subs in the trunk.

tell that to coy miller. :D
Chris love that tranny thanks again.
I will tell you how much more it takes to get in the 12s by spring. My guess is that its going to take another $4000 to get into the really low 12s. More converter, gear and a better blower. Thats on top of the $5000 I already have in the car. Not sure about the I quit counting a while back.Sure you can build a v8 cheaper that will go faster but there is nothing like beating a car that they think will beat you.

an sc with a 5.0 is like taking a 67 GT-500 and, pulling the 428, and putting in a new 460 or 351 stroker cuz they make more performance parts for the 460 or 351 based engines, it's just not right.

Seems like in this months MMFF they have a 4.6NA at 427hp (crank I believe). It is just a lot more freakin potential. I'm not saying I will ditch the 3.8 anytime soon, but I would sure as hell drive a 5.0 SC. I do like having stuff no one else has though.

Yeah they are awesome the only way i'll get one is if my dad gives me his (bought one and restored it like 16 years ago). It's his fault i'm into cars, but everytime i modify it(my sc) he flips out cuz he likes stock stuff, but his gt500 and 69 cjr mach 1 are both modified under the valve covers and cams, but externally looking stock.

Dave your supercoupe is awesome and your turbo v8 in a sc body :D will be awesome, but in all reality i am much more impressed with an 4,000lb 11 sec 6 cyl(and now with coy's 10.85) than a 10 sec or even a 9 sec v8. But that turbo 347 engine is going to rip. Did you have to cut anything to get the turbo to fit? What kind of turbo are you going to run by the way?

Mark,
I've still got the 11 second 6 cylinder in the next garage bay. (see pics below)
We had to cut and weld the crap out of the K-member and elevate the motor an inch to clear the 8 quart pan they had to use with the dart block. But with a little cutting it still fit under the stock hood. The turbo isn't installed yet, but yes there will be more cutting required in the area the air box is now located to make room for the IC pipes going to and from the intercooler.
HP in Roswell NM is building and installing a custom turbo system with tubular headers, 76mm turbo and FMIC. They will also be installing a new custom exhaust system. I don't think they will be ready for the car until after the first of the year.

Awesome and i knew you still had your sc
when i get my sc in the 11's i might do something like you but i think i might make a big horse 408 turbo or sc pretty much just for drag racing but that will be like 5-10 years from now  but i will always love the that little engine that could.
Mark
David as usual is being modest. I would venture to say that turbo v8 is going to have everybody that owns a m12 awe struck. If 550 hp.=10.85 what do you think 800+ hp. is going to do? I will make the trip down to Gateway to watch that bad boy make a pass. David did you buy your fire suit yet?

You better come out for the first trip to the track then, because they might not let him come back after his first pass.

Now that the NHRA rules have changed to allow running as quick as 11.49 before needing a roll bar and harness, I'll be able to make a bunch of passes testing everything and figuring out how to drive it.
Since MAR has closed down, I can't risk getting banned at Gateway until I'm sure it can run 10s. That will probably take the better part of next year, so I wouldn't bother making any special trips to see it race.
All I care about is that it's race ready by the Shootout, because Chris Lazzo and I swore an oath (okay...it was more like wishing out loud after drinking a bunch of beers) that we were both bringing faster cars than Coy and Mike next year.

being the fastest at the next shootout. :)

If I wasnt so afraid of the stuff I would just put a nitrous kit on my car and get into the 12 bracket. I have a few small mods planned this winter to try and hit. 12.99. If they dont work then its probably going to be a better blower for me. i want to walk away from the new cobra mustangs and see that dumb look on there faces.
