I got some parts for measurements, and i just got pricing on the core needed so i can give an estimate on price.
For those that weren't there, the idea was to pus the radiator back a few inches to make space for a large top to bottomflowing FMIC that would connect to the stock IC pipes with rubber couplers.
Core size is 27" wide, 12" tall, and 3" thick. Estimated price is about $750-$800.
And yes, i'll be returning stock parts very soon ;)

Very Nice !!
Whats the cfm and pressure drop on the core that you are using? Also....any chances of a FMIC that does not require any alterations to the rad.....maybe not as big but something that flows well.

Nick, would your proposed design still allow room for the A/C condensor?
thanks,

Thats a fair price. Will this be a "bolt-on" part? Using the stock IC conections? Compared to the stock IC, what are the differences, not just in size, but as already asked? Flow, CFM, pressure drop. What else would this include?

it would be nice if the rad did not need to be moved back,as others have found with a front mount this only tends to create more heat.As you are blocking the rad on the front side if you move it closer to the engine it makes it harder for the rad to cool the car as it cannot flow air as it tends to get blocked. This sounds like a nice idea though!

that sounds like a good size core.
The problem with moving the rad back is because there is no way to use the stock fan and they move a lot of air most are from 2000-3000 CFM. try and look for something thats low pro file to fit most of them are 1200-1800CFM since there in pull mode. you can add a fan to that otherside and that will bring the CFM numbers up to what you need. Now this is the key you need to make it air tite(sp) from the AC to the rad so no are makes it's way out as it pass by them all. This is the number one problem with the MP kit is because the air being pushed just blows out the gaps infront of the rad where it meets the ic since there not the same size. If you were to get rid of the gap and fill it you would be better off same thing needs to be done if your doing your own set up.
Just a tip

A/C stays. I didn't see anywhere it'd get in the way.
I don't have measured flow numbers as the cores will be custom made for this. Based on data i have for the cores i use for DSM front mounts, i'm expecting nearly 1000CFM at very low pressure drop, 1-2psi. The air tubes are only 12" long, and the core is 27" wide, so there's a LOT of flow area, and it's a short flow length.
It couldbe well sealed.
I don't know hwat i can fit in there without moving the rad. Didn't really think about it that way.
StockIC pipes would NOT be modified. Couplers will be machined to connect tothe IC using silicone.

HAs anyone followed up on this?

Once agian, anything on this? After talking with a few guys at that crappy speed-o-rama, a IC can be purchased for about 300-400 bucks, and it can handle up to 450 HP. But that would be all you get, not a fabircator like Nick. I know of a lot guys who are waiting for a stock located IC, thats better than the stock IC.
This guy can make some good coin here, if he shows up again.....
Who was it that set up this with Nick? I am going to send Nick a Pm, but thats all I can do.

I have been hopping to hear as well.
I have been looking for a high flow core to put inplace of the stock one. Did see one on ebay that would work but missed it.

Has anybody tried emailing Nick directly, or calling him? Not sure how often he visits our forums.

I have talked with Nick, and I'm heading out to his place on SAT(I think, I still to comfirm this). He was a nice guy on the phone and was kind of dissapointed that no one had followed this up. For the price, and the fact the stock tubes are being used, this could be a good product. Anyone want to go with me?
I'll post what comes from this meeting.

Ryan, some thing that fits in the stock location please.
I like the way my car cools with the condenser out of the way...it never over heats and I would like to keep it that way. Don't want anything in front of the rad.

I thought it was left that nick was going to get back to us.

I think there was some confusion between Nick and the ones who had talked with him. He was under the impression we(the club) would go to him, and we(the club) had thought he was going to come to us. He also said now he has a day job and the fab work is done on the side.
I haven't heard back from him yet, so hopefully sat is still on.

I'll tell you when I call you in the morning......
Ok, all it is, I'm hopefully going to see this guy(Nick) who has come up with a stock mounting front mount IC.

No, Nick never has returned any of calls. I left 2 or 3 voice mails for him. I'm going to try him again this week. If there is going to be a meet, maybe he might want to show up.

Not sure why my phone didn't ring when you called though.
Sorry about that.

Ryan,
Did you get your stuff back.
Is there any one still wanting a better intercooler?

Yeah I still want to take a look at his set up. No I haven't got any of my parts yet, but I haven't called him since the last time I talked with him. I'm a little busy to make plans to go and see him, but I do want to see his IC design for us.
