I have a set of steel valve covers, any body know a good, not overly expensive place I could send them to be chromed (as opposed to just picking a place at random)?
How much would chrome plating generally cost for valve covers?
Is that new chrome powder coating a better, more cost effecient option?
Thanks for any input!

Thanks for the replies Mike and Victor, and you too Damon ;)
Right now I don't really have the room in my garage to get into powdercoating myself. Plus I'm sure my wife wouldn't be too thrilled if she opened the oven to cook dinner and found some exhaust manifolds curing in there!
I'm sending an e-mail to chromemasters for a price quote, but surely someone on this board has sent out a part to be chromed and was happy with the service and price?

Get the chrome plated stuff while you can, the EPA has really been cracking down on plating companies that apply chrome. Something about chromium (sp?) getting into the ground water.
Several companies in the St. Louis area have stopped chrome plating for decorative applications and only do the expensive industrial chrome (like hydraulic cylinders). We have recently switched to a less attractive nickel plating on things like hydraulic control levers, because domestic chrome plating companies are getting scarce.

Yeah, kind of expensive too... I'm going to start looking into that new chrome powdercoating they use on wheels. Hopefully it it will be cheaper. Can't justify spending that much on valve covers that you can only see 10% of anyway!

Any other chrome plating companies you guys recommend? Chrome Masters does not do automotive parts.

Well I geuss they stopped doing it for new customers since the bike craze hit.
2 months ago they chromed all the trim on a 62 chevy wagon my uncle was building for a customer, but he's known them for many years and thats probably why they still do his stuff. Funny how getting on the Discovery channel changes things.
