Hey I thought I'd say whats up to you guys down in FL and how good you got it.
First, state inspections are required here in VA, pain in the butt if you ask me. They fail me because my hood (Cobra cowl style) is too high. Over the 1.123" maximum about the dashboard. So I find a shop that will let it slide, then they say the tint on the front winshield is too low. Which it was set to FL's legal limits or whatever.
Second, it gets cold here, its been in the 20's already, and sure to get a good deal colder in the coming weeks. At least I never had frost to scrape off my windows in FL.
Hope all is going well with everyone down in FL.

I was born and raised in Va and live in the Panhandle now. Doesn't take me long to get ready to come home when I go up to visit in the winter. You're in the wrong part of the state to stay warm... ;) Down around Norfolk is warmer, still gets some snow but not all that much or that often. If you're going to stay out in those mountains you'll be wanting some long johns for sure. :D Hopefully you've already got some snow tires and/or chains.
Thanks for reminding me - I have to find my scraper before I head up for Christmas.

I got a set of 89 rims I'm gona get some snow tires on. I don't really know what all I need. Firestone had some Winterforce tires they said $69, other places are arround $100 for goodyears or coopers, +$15 each if I want them studded. I don't know if I need that or not. Its hard to say.
My parents are in Mathews, just like an hour and a half north of norfolk (near gloucester). They are much warmer than it is here.

Ask some of the old timers around... I'm pretty sure they'll tell you the Firestones will be fine. You'll probably want to add some sandbags and a shovel to your trunk repetoire too. Used to live in Gloucester County near Saluda. Know Mathews a little but didn't get over there much.
You know there's a big show at Silver Springs in January? Good excuse to come down and warm up...

Have a block heater installed. But make sure it is a good one....one that installs where the freeze out plug goes in. Then simply plug it in at night. When you get up the next morning, your engine will be at just about the temperature where the gauge starts to register. No more sittin in the driveway for twenty minutes! Well worth it. Most people think block heaters are only for diesels. Not so. Costs maybe 40 or 50 bucks. Got em on all my gas engine vehicles.

One of the few times you'll ever see an SC owner actually try to warm his engine compartment instead of cool it off!!

Power doesn't do much good if there is no traction. That and all the talk of reformulated gas, dunno if that happens here or not, would hurt efficiency too.
I haven't installed them yet, need some time off work to do that. But maybe before the weekend I'll get a few minutes.
