Never realized it would kill the power so much, took my car out today, first time in maybe 24 hours, engine was fairly cold for about the first 10 min, or as cold as it can be in this heat....i stepped on it a few times and it's way faster than it is after the temp gets into it's normal RM area heh.

I guess this would be where the idea of a double intercooler type setup might come into play and be helpful. Hmmmm.

Anyone else notice this stuff, you must. It's bout 30C out here btw...maybe 30% humidity.

After the car warms up...start to about 3000rpms is very weak!

i have noticed that too.... these cars hate warm weather

my cars a slug in warm weather

Eh, Scott, temp shouldn't affect SC "if" it is maintained in
good running condish.....lol !

My temp remains on the 'N' normally, until or unless I stress
the engine with power demands and use the blower too much,
etc. (Yeah, my engine is well maintained, etc.!.....)

So, that should at least give you some guidance as to where
you want to take yours over time. But, as long as it isn't
overheating in your heat wave there presently, then that's the
main thing and really all that matters ? (!):p

As an aside, and in context of long past discussions on oil,
you might review what you're doing with it in that category
since the type of oil used in relation to season does play
a contributory role, and then some, for engine longevity.

Virgil obviously Neglects to read any of the information availile on the SC's cooling problems. Had he read this information he would have realised how wrong he was, how the coolant passages int he block were decreased in size or elimnated in some places to increase the blocks strength, how the Puny Little plastic topped Radiator had to be jammed into the front of the car, Forgot a Tranny Cooler etc etc....

It's not uncommon for these cars to get hot, hell they run hot period, Alot of motor, packed into a little space in a tightly sealed front end, it happens. Most of the guys will change their water pump and rad if they are running high HP or bangering the car. Take it easy in the hot and you wont have problems.

PS - The overall upkeep of the car has little do with your problem, Unless there is a outright clog, or a Stuck Thermostat, there isnt a measurable difference. Quality of the Coolant, or adding Water wetter, chemically helps lower temps, but honestly, I dont think its worth it. A simple chemisty/physics course backs this up. AS well as Virigls obsession with oil which is fueled by savy salesmen pitching that their oils is better then another, when none of us will ever really know what additives work best, or what they are made of. Oil is like dish detergent, OR Gas stations everyone thinks theirs is better, some pay more, or less, but whos really to say. ( I dont mean octane levels)

not to get into any arguement, but wouldn't an IC fan work well for the hot weather after all in the summer the air gets hotter and your IC is less effective. I know this has noting to do with the rest of the engine in tempeture but facts show cars get more power with cooler air.

Just a thought.
