Did anyone else see the show on TLC or TNT or some other channel tht had the making/design of the Shelby GR-1?
Or is this old news??
Anyway, it is one hot coupe. They brought it to a Farrari show where there were like 500 something red F's and had the mettalic GR1 parked amongst them all. Pretty neat. They didnt talk at all about the power ppplant though, but I only cought the last 30 min of the show.
Anyone have more info?

I saw the first airing of it. The car in that show was a non-working concept, it didn't run and didn't have an engine. GREAT looking car.
Bothers me that that guy worked on the design, they show the team of people responsible for bringing it to a full sized concept...and then Shelby walks in at the end to take some pictures with it and people give him credit for it. Shows just how much involvement he really has with Ford. Shelby seems to just be selling his name.

There has been some info and photos of the car floating around the Net for a few months now. Powertrain is the same as the concept "Daisy" Cobra roadster from last year ... 6.0L V-10, a 60 deg. block I believe, not related to the current 6.8L V-10 used in the Ford trucks.

My guess is that this car has more possibility of going into production than the Cobra repop ... Ford has stated that the GT will only be around until about 2007 model year, they may want to use the GR-1 to replace it as their "halo" car.

cheers,
Ed N.

The engine is a 4.6 Modular, not sure if it is SoHC or DoHC but with two more cylinders slapped on it.

The project Daisy engine is a 427 CI V10 mod motor that was built by Larry Widmere of the ENDYNE corp. Ford contracted him to build and massage it.
That thing makes some serious power and its not even maxed out.

Do you have any links or pics Ed?
I guess theres a bit of descrepency about the motor, but time will tell for sure. It was my understanding from what the show was saying that it didnt have a motor, nor did they show the interior. It seemed mostly concerned with the body. Never the less, a hot coupe!

Isn't this the same Shelby as seen on "Rides"? Rides is the show with Brandon?? from Bev Hills 90210 show, raced IRL Indy cars and had a bad crash about a year ago. It was sweet Shelby!

I dont know about the TV show Bob but the project Daisy car(as it was reffered to inhouse at Ford) is the 2 seat roadster that ressembles(in a modern way) the 2 seat Cobra's that Shelby built. Even Larry did'nt know that the Daisy car had anything to do with Shelby. I would talk to larry on the phone asking if it was the Shelby car he was working on and he told me the only thing he was working on for Ford was a project Daisy and knew nothing more. Later on once they went public with the car Larry told me thats the car, but even he did not know it at the time.

That's the one from the show, I think it's the only one out there so far. At the end of the show Shelby made an appearance (for the first time) to drop by and take that picture.
