Storage space for SCCoA members ?

Ron or George,

Any chance that SCCoA members will be able to get some space on this site to host pictures or videos like TCCoA has ?

My TCCoA account is full and besides that, it doesn't allow uploads directly from my new home computer (Dell) unless I resave the image in MS paint.

David, we do host videos that have interest to all members and visitors and we do host pictures for members of their own cars for the member pages.

At the current dues price of $15, I don't see us opening up hosting space for any images or videos that a member would want to save. I know the TCCoA has trouble with porn being saved in the member free space.

It is certainly a privilege that we can consider for members only in the coming year, if we can collect the funds to cover the disk space and bandwidth needed for the images. We definately would not allow certain types of images/videos to be stored. But that is always hard to police.

There are several free sites and small fee sites on the web that do allow that type of storage and linking.

Members get 10 pictures for their member page and we have thumbnailing fully enabled for any post someone might use.

The only place I can see hosting a pictures is for signatures and I am willing to handle that manually.

If a video is relavant to SCs, I also add those to the multimedia page.

Is the thumbnailing in posts not sufficient, David?

George,

I would be willing to pay double the current dues for about 15 MB of hosting space. BTW, where do you store all your pictures ?

Ron,

The thumbnailing is great and I can quickly upload pics from my hardrive, but I can't post or link those photos to other websites. I'm mainly interested in storing pictures of car parts, dyno sheets, electrical diagrams ect...

Now that I'm working on my 93 SC with a 5.0 based turbo, I sometimes need to post pictures on other websites for technical assistance, and as you know most places require that the images already be hosted somewhere.

If all the places I posted had thumbnailing enabled like we do here it wouldn't be an issue because I could just upload the pics from my computer.

David

PS: Thanks to both of you for responding so quickly.

David, I store all my images on my own website www.thundercoupe.com which I pay for annually. If you have a lot of images that is the way to go. You've got control and upload anything you want!
